HRC Workshop: 'Why Podcasting? Podcasts and the Future of Storytelling'

The Humanities Research Center hosts a writing workshop, "Why Podcasting? Podcasts and the Future of Storytelling," in Valentine House, Seminar Room. Guest will include Liz Covart, digital projects editor, Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture, and Chioke I’Anson, underwriting voice of NPR, co-creator and host of the new NPR Story Lab podcast. Peace Corps Information Session: Environment

The University Student Commons and the Peace Corps hosts an information session in the University Student Commons, Alumni Board Room, about environmental volunteer opportunities in the Peace Corps. Attendees will learn about volunteer experiences, ask questions about service and gain tips to guide them through the application process.

The Humanities Research Center presents "The Ben Franklin's World Project: Podcasting and the Future of Digital History" in Cabell Library, Multipurpose Room 250, as part of its spring 2018 speaker series. Liz Covart, digital projects editor, Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture, and host of the award-winning Ben Franklin's World History podcast, will begin her lecture at 4 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Community Art Therapy Workshop
5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Sciences Club at VCU hosts a Community Art Therapy workshop at The Depot. The workshop will be guided by Leila Saadeh, certified art therapist, and is conducted in partnership with Daily Planet Health Services. Attendees can relax while working on a guided art project, learning first-hand about the power of art therapy in mental health care.

Women's Basketball Hosts St. Louis

VCU Women's Basketball hosts St. Louis in their final home game of the 2017-18 regular season in the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a VCU pink T-shirt.

Chili’s at VCU Hosts Official Men’s Basketball Away Game Watch Party
7 p.m.
Chili's at VCU hosts the official Men's Basketball watch party as they take on the University of Massachusetts (UMass). Fans can catch the HAVOC live on each of Chilis' nine TVs and take advantage of specials including the $5 game-day burger. Attendees are encouraged to wear VCU gear for free giveaways and prizes. Untold RVA Tour

The Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs sponsor a tour with Untold RVA, a homegrown, black woman-owned, urban exploration tour company that seeks to inspire people who come to Richmond in search of an alternative view of the bygone era. This unique experience allows participants to choose their own adventure along an exclusive network of Untold RVA's pod marker history recordings and street art installations. A personal Gatekeeper tour guide will reveal fascinating Self Determination stories that have been deliberately submerged by mainstream history, such as the existence of underground resistance movements. Literature and Flash Art Event

The VCU undergraduate journals of literature and art Amendment and Pwatem have teamed up to host an evening of literature readings and art-making at The Anderson Gallery. This event will feature writers reading their original short stories and poems while fine and performing artists make work inspired by the pieces. The event is free and open to the public, and will have free food, drinks and copies of the journals.

The Quest Commercialization Fund is designed to foster the growth of VCU's culture of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program: Road Bike Rides and Group Hikes
The VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program hosts free weekly clinics. Road bike rides occur every Wednesday from Jan. 24 to April 25, and allow members to explore the Richmond area by bike. Helmets and bikes are supplied. Group hikes occur every Thursday from Jan. 25 to April 26, and take members from the VCU campus on various trails, some of which in the James River Park System. Registration is ongoing through the semester.

VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program: Utah Spring Break Trip
The VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program offers spring break trip to Utah. Participants will explore canyons, hike in the desert, camp under the stars and look for ancient rock art. The adventure starts and ends in Las Vegas, Nevada; you get yourself there and VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program will take care of the rest. Price will be $495 for students and $595 for faculty/staff/members and includes food, transportation, permits, entry fees, and equipment, but DOES NOT cover airfare to or from the start.

VCU Wellness Block Party: Volunteers Needed
The Student Government Association seeks volunteers for the 11th annual Wellness Block Party on Saturday, March 24, from 1-4 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, 1000 Mosby St. During the fair, health screenings will be performed and there will be fun activities for the community to raise awareness of healthy choices and provide health education.
