The VCU Faculty Senate sponsors the annual general faculty meeting with President Rao in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballroom. Typically at this meeting, the president will briefly address the faculty and then answer questions/concerns from faculty in the audience. This meeting is open to all VCU faculty. VCU Recreational Sports: 'Love Your Health: How To Look and Feel Good'
6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
VCU Recreational Sports Wellness presents "Love Your Health: How to Look and Feel Good" in the Cary Street Gym Lobby to discuss current research about nutrition, exercise and overall wellness. Attendees will learn how important health is to their mind and what they can do for their overall health. Walk-ups are welcome.

'Advance Your Research' Webinar: 'Get Creative Commons'

VCU Libraries' popular "Advance Your Research" series debuts new webinars this spring. "Get Creative Commons" by Carla-Mae Crookendale, arts research librarian, will share how to use Creative Commons. Participants will learn how to find, use and create Creative Commons licensed media.

The VCU Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry and Innovation (iCubed) holds a "My Life, My Scholarship" symposium series every Wednesday at the Monroe Park Campus Barnes & Noble @ VCU Cafe. MK Abadoo, MFA, Visiting Arts Fellow within the iCubed Racial Equity, Arts and Culture core, will share how her lived experiences have shaped her perspective on the choreographic process as a methodology for cultural organizing.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day
Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
VCU Center for Sport Leadership presents National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the VCU Sports Medicine Building on 1300 W. Broad St. #113. The event will feature a panel discussion with prominent female sports leaders, including Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette McGlade and Alliance for Women Coaches director Megan Kahn. The keynote speaker will be Jane Rodgers, executive director of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.
Spades Tournament
Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs hosts a spades tournament with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. in the University Student Commons, OMSA Office, Room 215. This tournament is intended as organized competition for students, faculty and staff while maintaining a fun and social atmosphere. To submit team names, use the contact information below by Tuesday, Feb. 6. Gifts for the winner and runner-ups will be provided.

The Health Science Club at VCU hosts a Valentines Day Auction in the University Student Commons, Virginia Rooms C-D, to raise money for the American Heart Association. The event will have prizes and food.
Handling Dangerous Goods Training
Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 from 9 a.m. to noon
Environmental Health and Safety hosts Handling Dangerous Goods training in the George Ben Johnston Auditorium for VCU and VCU Health employees who handle (as in receipt for, mark, label, pack and prepare/sign shipping documents) dangerous goods. Handling dangerous goods without training or with lapsed training is illegal and may subject the handler and University to fines. To register, visit the website below.

'Bridging the Cultural Divide to Become an Equity-Minded Academic Health System Through Inclusion Excellence'

VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program: Sea Kayaking in the Everglades
The VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program is hosting a spring break trip to Everglades National Park. Participants will learn about sea kayaking and explore marshes, swamps and open water, carrying everything on their kayaks. Trip fees includes transportation to and from south Florida, food, equipment, permits and instruction. Registration ends on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Tech Tuesdays start Feb. 13: Tompkins-McCaw Library launches Technology Tuesdays, Innovative Media programs on the MCV Campus
Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences launches a new series, "Technology Tuesdays," that showcases Innovative Media programs and free library resources and expertise on the MCV Campus. "Technology Tuesdays" run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and are held in Tompkins-McCaw Library, on the second floor Lecture Room. Accepting Applications for 2018 Minority Political Leadership Institute (MPLI)
Applications are being accepted for the 2018 Minority Political Leadership Institute (MPLI), a collaborative initiative of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus Foundation and the VCU Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute. MPLI is an intensive seven-month leadership development experience for individuals interested in issues important to minority communities. The Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute is housed in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.
