African American Studies Fall Open House

The Department of African American Studies hosts a fall open house at Harrison House. Attendees will learn more about the African American Studies program and major, meet faculty and students, enjoy light refreshments and see a pop-up gallery of student artwork. Free and open to the public.

Join PLUMAS in the University Student Commons, Virginia Room A, as we celebrate Indigenous People's Day by watching "500 Years: Life in Resistance" and discussing the treatment and effects of indigenous people in Latinx communities. All are welcome to attend.

VCU Homecoming: Ram Fest Ticket Sales
Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at 10 a.m.
Tickets for VCU Homecoming's RamFest with performers Tory Lanez, featuring Shy Glizzy and 24 HRS, go on sale starting October 3 at 10 a.m. and end October 6 at 5 p.m. at the Altria Theater Box Office. They are also sold online through Ticketmaster and at the Richmond Coliseum Sweet Frog Box Office starting October 9. Tickets are $25 for students with a VCU ID, who may purchase up to two tickets for this event. Tickets are $35 for the public. All tickets are general admission.

Latinx Heritage Month First Friday

The Department of Music presents Sonia Vlahcevic's faculty recital in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. This recital will feature music from Igor Stravinsky, George Crumb and John Cage, and will include performances by a variety of VCU Music faculty members. Free and open to the public.

"Fall into Seafood"

The Activities Programming Board at VCU presents "Fall into Seafood" in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballrooms. With October being seafood month, this event will have an array of seafood including crab, shrimp, mussels and crawfish. There will also be a make your own fish bowl station and one lucky winner will receive a goldfish!
2017 India Lecture in Democracy and Civil Society

The Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs hosts the 2017 India Lecture in Democracy and Civil Society, "Pax Indica: India's Future in the 21st Century," in the University Student Commons, Richmond Salons. National Conflict Resolution Day 2017

"Lessons from the Opioid Epidemic: Health Care and Public Health"

Join the University College Common Book Program for an interactive panel presentation and common book conversation at two locations: The Academic Learning Commons, Room 4100 (Monroe Park Campus) and the Kontos Medical Science Building Auditorium (MCV Campus). Presenters Dr. S. Hughes Melton, Virginia Department of Health chief deputy commissioner; Dr. M. Norman Oliver, deputy commissioner for population health; and Tom Bannard, program director for VCU's Rams in Recovery and certified alcohol drug counselor; will focus on the Opioid Crisis in Virginia and its impact on public health.
