Pickering Fellowship Information Session

The National Scholarship Office hosts an information session on the Pickering Fellowship in West Grace Street Student Housing-North, Room 1030J. The Pickering Fellowship pays for graduate school for students from underrepresented groups who are interested in pursuing careers with the United States Foreign Service. Casey Nealy with the Pickering Fellowship program will give an overview of the program and answer questions from prospective candidates.

'Dare to Dialogue: Deepening the Conversation on Race and Justice in American Life'

Political Science presents "Dare to Dialogue: Deepening the Conversation on Race and Justice in American Life" featuring a screening of filmmaker Ava DuVernay's documentary "13th" on race and criminal justice in America in the University Student Commons Theater. A town hall and public conversation with experts and community members will follow. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free and all are welcome.

VCU Jazz Orchestra I in Concert

VCU Music invites the VCU community to hear the VCU Jazz Orchestra I, under the direction of Taylor Barnett, in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. Music will include Cole Porter, Bill Holman, and several selections from the music of Radiohead. The band will also sightread live. Admission is $7 in advance; $10 at the door; and free with VCU student ID.

2017 VCU Cabell First Novelist Award Night Honors Jade Chang and 'The Wangs vs. the World'

'VCU BEST Series: Exploring Federal Jobs in the Sciences'

The federal government needs scientists in many roles, but the application process for these roles is unlike academia or industry. Attendees will learn how to find scientific roles in federal agencies, how to build a federal resume and how to successfully navigate usajobs.gov.

Cabell Library Stop Temporarily Unavailable Nov. 13
On Monday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., RamRide will be unable to access the Cabell Library stop. Passengers using the Cabell Library stop should proceed to the Laurel and Franklin street stop for service during these times. Passengers can utilize the "RamRide" tracker to track RamRide in real-time, available via the website below.

Call for Participation: 'Richmond: Symphony of a City'
VCU's Institute for Contemporary Art invites those that dream of sharing untold stories about the city of Richmond to contribute ideas for a new radio drama by artist Marinella Senatore, commissioned by the ICA as part of its inaugural exhibition, "Declaration." Volunteer with 'Into the Streets: Oregon Hill'
The Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement seeks volunteers for "Into the Streets: Oregon Hill" on Friday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will join neighbors in Oregon Hill for a half-day of community service and connection. SGA 'Ramsgiving'
This Thanksgiving, the Student Government Association encourages the VCU community to celebrate the season by donating non-perishable food items to the inaugural partnership between the City of Richmond and the VCU SGA, "Ramsgiving." "Ramsgiving" is a two-week, campus-wide donation drive from Nov. 6-20. Beneficiaries of the collected non-perishable food items are RamPantry, FeedMore of Richmond and local community public housing.
VCU Recreational Sports: New Group Exercise Schedule
VCU Recreational Sports offers a variety of group exercise classes for all fitness levels which are free for all students and Recreational Sports members. All instructors are certified and will motivate participants to reach fitness goals. Classes are held at Cary Street Gym, MCV Campus Recreation Center and the new Marshall Street Studio. Register 24-hours in advance. The new schedule continues through the rest of the fall semester.
