The School of World Studies presents Andrea Wright, Ph.D., Cultural Anthropology, discussing "Anthropological Approaches to Oil Production: A View from the Arabian Sea" in the University Student Commons Theater as part of the Fall 2017 Anthropology Speaker Series. Fulbright UK Summer Institutes Information Session
3 p.m.
The National Scholarship Office presents an information session about the Fulbright UK Summer Institutes in the Honors College, Multipurpose Room 1303. The summer institutes are intended for first- and second-year students with a GPA of 3.7 or above and fund a three to six week summer study abroad at one of seven universities across the U.K. Two more information sessions will also be offered in January.

University Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble

VCU Music presents a University Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble concert under the direction of David Niethamer in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. This concert will feature David Maslanka's Give Us This Day: Short Symphony for Wind Ensemble, Vincent Persichetti's Symphony No. 6 for Band, and works by Holsinger, Ives, Strommen, O’Toole, Walczyk, Zdechlik and Mahr. Tickets are $10 general admission and free for VCU students with ID.

Central Virginia All Hazards Incident Management Team Presentation and Tour of Command Trailer

The Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs and VCU Police host the Central Virginia All Hazards Incident Management Team for a presentation and tour of the Command Trailer in the University Student Commons, Forum Room, and on the Commons Plaza. The Command Trailer will be open on the Commons Plaza for tours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Free HIV Testing
Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Center for Cultural Experiences in Prevention in the Department of Psychology and The Well sponsor free HIV testing for students in the University Student Commons, Virginia Rooms A-D. Staff from Health Brigade, formerly Fan Free Clinic, will be conducting the testing.
Italian Night at Shafer Court Dining Center

VCUDine offers an Italian Night at Market 810 in Shafer Court Dining Center featuring the taste of authentic Italian food, including eggplant napoleon, antipasto platter, fried cheese ravioli, and jumbo shrimp scampi over linguini. Entry to Market 810 is required for participation and dining from the Guest Restaurant requires additional VCU Dining Plan swipes.

United2Heal: Jumpology Social
Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
United2Heal at VCU, a humanitarian aid organization that collects surplus medical supplies and ships them to areas in need, invites students to a free social at Jumpology, 10087 Brook Rd., Glen Allen. The first 50 people to arrive will receive a free long-sleeved shirt. U2H will provide transportation from the Commons loop at 6:15 p.m. This free event is a great way to de-stress before exams.
Be the Match Bone Marrow Drive in Collaboration with MEDLIFE at VCU
Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
MEDLIFE at VCU collaborates with Be the Match on Campus to host a Be the Match bone marrow drive in the University Student Commons, near the Commons Theater. Students may join the bone marrow registry to help a greater cause. Joining the registry takes no more than five minutes and can be done in between classes.
United2Heal Warehouse Volunteering
Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
United2Heal at VCU seeks volunteers to help sort medical supplies to donate to areas in need at its last warehouse trip of the semester at 2601 Maury St., Unit #31. To celebrate the work done this semester, there will be free pizza, cookies and drinks for volunteers. Volunteers are encouraged to wear an ugly sweater for holiday spirit. Rides will be provided from the Commons Loop at 2:50 p.m., if needed.

A Talk by Eva Dillon, Author of 'Spies in the Family'
Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
VCU Libraries welcomes alumna Eva Dillon as she returns to campus to talk about her best-selling book, "Spies in the Family," in Cabell Library, Lecture Hall, Room 303. With rich insights into Cold War politics, the book is "a riveting true-life thriller and revealing memoir from the daughter of an American intelligence officer—the astonishing true story of two spies and their families on opposite sides of the Cold War." The talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session, a book-signing and a reception. All are welcome.

Spring 2018 Student Parking Sales
VCU Parking and Transportation announces that spring 2018 parking sales for all housing permits and MCV Campus commuter permits will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 7 a.m. Monroe Park Campus commuter permits will go on sale at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Students may access the parking portal by visiting the website below and clicking on the yellow "Manage my Account" button, located in the top right-hand corner. All student parking permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Research Opportunity
Are you a woman in menopause experiencing anxiety? Would you like to talk about your experiences? Researchers at the VCU School of Nursing are interested in learning more about women’s health in menopause. Participation in this qualitative study would involve a face to face interview (approximately 1 hour) to discuss your personal experience with anxiety in menopause. The interview will be audio recorded and will take place at a location convenient to you. You will receive a gift card to a local business for participation in the study.
