VCU Small Jazz Ensembles in Concert

VCU Small Jazz Ensembles perform in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. There will be six combos and music by Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, E.Y. Harburg, Lorenz Hart, Joe Henderson, Smokey Johnson, Johnny Mercer, Thelonious Monk, Oliver Nelson, Richard Rodgers, Wayne Shorter, Horace Silver and Stevie Wonder. Admission is free.

'Indigenous Health in Brazil and American Indians'

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs hosts a dialogue for American Indian Heritage Month featuring Taveira, a Humphrey fellow, in the University Student Commons. Taveira's special interests are in control programs, health promotion and chronic disease prevention. She hopes her studies in the U.S. and partnerships with Brazilian programs will help her design effective, holistic and community-oriented programs to reduce mortality and morbidity in indigenous populations.
Clarion Case Competition Interest Meeting

OCSS Clothing Swap
Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Off Campus Student Services presents its first clothing swap in the OCSS office, 1101 W. Marshall St. This is an opportunity to swap some lightly-worn clothing with something new for winter. Donations will be taken at the OCSS office on Nov. 27-28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Nov. 29-30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in RamPantry.

Call for Participation: 'Richmond: Symphony of a City'
VCU's Institute for Contemporary Art invites those that dream of sharing untold stories about the city of Richmond to contribute ideas for a new radio drama by artist Marinella Senatore, commissioned by the ICA as part of its inaugural exhibition, "Declaration." VCU Recreational Sports OAP: Big Bend National Park Trip
The VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program hosts a seven-day canoe trip from Jan. 3-13 (plus travel days) down the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River in southern Texas. Participants will float through and hike inside canyons, find hot springs and stargaze. Registration is open and closed on Friday, Dec. 1. An interest meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Outing Rental Center.

OpenCon at VCU: Talk Idea Submissions Deadline is Dec. 8
VCU invites students, faculty, librarians, scientists, writers and researchers to the Virginia satellite session of the international conference OpenCon on Friday, Jan. 12, from 9:30 a.m to 4 p.m. at Cabell Library. OpenCon Virginia seeks submissions for lightening talks on any conference topic: open access publishing, open data, open science, open education or open anything.
