TRIO Student Support Services presents "Grad School 101" for those interested in graduate school to learn more and have questions answered in the Academic Learning Commons, Room 1105. 'Reclaiming Our Time: Roots of Me'

Black Art Student Empowerment at VCU presents its third annual showcase, "Reclaiming Our Time: Roots of Me," at The Depot. The gallery will begin at noon, followed by performances at 7 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a night filled with artwork and performances by both VCU students and artists within the Richmond community.
'Faith and Science Walking Hand-in-Hand' with Christine Darden

The College of Humanities and Sciences and the American Chemical Society's Virginia section present an evening with Christine Darden, Ph.D., an aeronautical engineer and one of the NASA "colored" human computers portrayed in the book "Hidden Figures" by Margot Shetterly, at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary St. This event will raise funds in support of a STEM Student Summit on Nov. 18. Registration and ticket purchase are required. Seating is limited.

VCU Opera Scenes

VCU Opera presents "Masked Mayhem: A Gala of Opera Scenes" on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m. in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. Admission is free.

Catholic Campus Ministry: Free Thanksgiving Dinner

Catholic Campus Ministry at VCU holds a free Thanksgiving dinner at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Parish Hall, 800 S. Cathedral Place. Attendees will enjoy fellowship and food cooked by Cathedral parishioners. There will be a special talk given discussing giving back to the homeless during the holidays.

The Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research and Tompkins-McCaw Library present their next lunch research seminar, "NIH Clinical Trials 2018: New Definition, New Policies," in Tompkins-McCaw Library, Room 2-010. Alanda Jones, CCTR, will review a summary of the NIH-mandated changes to clinical trials policies, provide case studies to demonstrate the expanded clinical trial definition and provide resources for researchers. Central Virginia All Hazards Incident Management Team Presentation and Tour of Command Trailer

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
VCU Recreational Sports offers an American Red Cross lifeguard certification for those with intermediate swimming experience. Participants will learn skills and knowledge to prevent aquatic emergencies, as well as increase critical-thinking and decision-making skills. The cost is $100 for students, $175 for members and $225 for non-members.
