Monthly Siren Test Rescheduled
The monthly siren test scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, will be rescheduled. Sirens on the Monroe Park and MCV Campuses are currently offline for maintenance. All other forms of VCU’s multichannel system for communicating emergency information to students, faculty, staff, visitors and the community are operational. These communications include text messages, Alertus boxes, desktop notifications, mass email, digital signs, social media and VCU Alert website information. The siren test will be rescheduled to an alternate date.

Chili’s at VCU Hosts Official Men’s Basketball Away Game Watch Parties
7 p.m.
This January, Chili's at VCU hosts the official Men's Basketball watch parties. Fans can catch the HAVOC live on each of Chilis' nine TVs as the team takes on St. Joseph's on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 7 p.m.; La Salle on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m.; Dayton on Friday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m.; St. Louis on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 9 p.m.; and George Mason on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. There will be food specials and attendees are encouraged to wear VCU gear for free giveaways and prizes. New Student Response System (SRS, aka 'Clickers')
VCU now has a contract with Top Hat, which will become the university’s standard, supported Student Response System (SRS). Top Hat is a secure, cloud-based solution that is more compatible and reliable than the current SRS (Turning Technologies). Proposals Sought : Work with Youth at VCU
The Mary and Frances Youth Center’s Discovery program accepts class proposals for summer 2018. Discovery will be offering week-long career exploration classes focused on STEM, arts and health sciences for middle school youth from July 30-August 17. Faculty, staff and students are invited to become class instructors and internship opportunities are also available for students who want to work with youth.
