The Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research presents a "Discovery Dialogues" seminar, "Exploring Who Receives Opioid Prescriptions from Primary Care," featuring Sebastian Tong, M.D., assistant professor, VCU Family Medicine and Population Health, in the Main Hospital, Learning Center (across from the cafeteria). Faculty, staff, students, patients and families are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

New Weight Watchers Freestyle with Meetings on Both Campuses

Weight Watchers holds meetings on both campuses with a new time and location for the MCV Campus, Tuesdays with weigh-ins beginning at 11:15 a.m. and meetings at 11:30 a.m. in the Hunton Student Center. Monroe Park Campus meetings continue on Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m. in Harris Hall. New members who join before Friday, Jan. 19, may receive a jumpstarter kit of tools ($50 value) to help reach their New Year's weight-loss goals.

VCU Alumni Survey Results Presentation

Development and Alumni Relations holds a town hall presentation in the Kontos Medical Sciences Building Auditorium for an in-depth look at the survey done with alumni. Southeastern Institute of Research (SIR) has conducted extensive research to see how alumni want to engage with VCU. Attendees will hear the results and action items moving forward. All are welcome. Two more presentations are planned for Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Clarion Competition Interest Meeting: Root Cause Analysis

The Center for Interprofessional Education and Inter Health Professionals Alliance holds a CLARION Case Competition interest meeting in Sanger Hall, Room 1-067, for those interested in health care and winning a $7,500 scholarship. Darci Bowles, assistant professor, School of Nursing, will review a past case with root cause analysis interpretation. The CLARION competition gives hands-on experience in a public health case while working with an interdisciplinary team of colleagues. Higher Education Advocacy Day

This is an annual event in collaboration with colleagues of the Faculty Senate of Virginia and The Virginia Conference of the American Association of University Professors. Participants will visit the offices of state legislators to advocate for our interests and the interests of higher education in the Commonwealth. Central Virginia SoCRA Chapter Meeting

The Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research along with Massey Cancer Center presents "The Role of the Investigational Drug Service (IDS) in the Management of Investigational Drugs" in the McGlothlin Medical Education Center, 11th Floor, Room 11-101/102. Robin Sculthorpe, coordinator for VCU Health Investigational Drug Services, will help participants understand the basic components of managing the accountability of investigational drugs and the regulatory framework that governs the management of investigational drugs.
