The Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research and Tompkins-McCaw Library have rescheduled their lunch research seminar, "What is Open Science and Why is it Important," for Wednesday, Jan. 24, from noon to 1 p.m. in Tompkins-McCaw Library, Room 2-010. Aaron Wolen and Tim York, VCU Data Science Lab, will discuss how to use Open Science Framework to share everything from raw data to published manuscripts. 'Wednesdays in the Workshop: Introduction to Game Design'

In preparation for VCU's Global Game Jam, VCU Libraries holds "Wednesdays in the Workshop: Introduction to Game Design" in Cabell Library, Lower Level. Attendees will learn about different game engines and the diverse skills needed to make games. No registration is required.

'Advance Your Research': Citation Management Tools Changing
Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 from noon to 1 p.m.
In 2018, VCU Libraries will retire RefWorks. To get ready for the change, the libraries have planned a group of webinars for spring. "Goodbye RefWorks: Exploring Other Citation Management Tools" will help participants discover new citation options and determine the one to suit their research and documentation needs. This session gives an overview of Mendeley, Zotero and EndNote, and shows how to save RefWorks citations.

NSA at VCU: Maiti Nepal Fundraiser
Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at 2 p.m.
The Nepalese Student Association at VCU hosts a fundraiser in the University Student Commons Theater for the Maiti Nepal organization to donate to and raise awareness for children and women being trafficked in Nepal. The documentary, "The Day My God Died," will be shown. Tickets are $3 and all proceeds will go to Maiti Nepal.

New Location for VCU RamBikes Rentals
VCU RamBikes free rental bikes have a new home on campus. Students, faculty and staff with valid VCU ID can now borrow bikes from the RamBikes shop, 201 N. Belvidere St. Rental hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The rental period is 72 hours.

Google Team Drives are available for users in the VCU Faculty/Staff domain beginning today. Team Drives can be used for projects, committees, departments, or other team-related purposes, and will be available by request only. Collaboration Services recommends reviewing the information on the appsforVCU website's Apps page under Team Drive. This will help determine if a Team Drive is the best choice to meet your needs and will prepare you for the transition once you submit your request.

VCU Recreational Sports: Women's Bootcamp
VCU Recreational Sports offers a women-only version of its new bootcamp class at the Cary Street Gym. Certified personal trainers will teach participants how to utilize conditioning tools like sled drags, bear crawls, rope pulls or farmer carries, to increase strength, power and coordination. This intensive small group training class is for those looking to get serious about conditioning. No prior experience is necessary. Registration ends on Friday, Feb. 2.

VCU Recreational Sports: Adult Swim Lessons
VCU Recreational Sports Aquatics offers adult swim lessons that allow beginner, intermediate and advanced swimmers to build on their skills. Instructors work with swimmers on important techniques and specific skills. Register by Friday, Jan. 26, to participate at either the MCV Campus Recreation and Aquatic Center or the Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center.
