How to Spot Human Trafficking

The fourth-year medical students at VCU host a free four-hour medical training to improve care to victims and survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation in the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building, Learning Theater. Guest lecturer Dr. Ron Chambers is a family physician from Sacramento, California who runs a residency program and is also a pioneer at training residents and medical students to spot human trafficking.
Artist Talk: Tania Bruguera

The Institute for Contemporary Art and VCU Painting and Printmaking present a public lecture by Cuban installation and performance artist Tania Bruguera at The Depot, 814 W. Broad St. Bruguera has participated in numerous international exhibitions. Bruguera received her BFA from the instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, Cuba and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The Division for Inclusive Excellence offers a 2-day Building Inclusive Communities (BIC) workshop for VCU faculty, administrators and staff, March 19-20, 2018 at the School of Nursing, 1100 E. VCU Recreational Sports Male & Female Only Swims
VCU Recreational Sports Aquatics is offering male and female only swims staffed by the same sex, Fridays from 7-9 p.m. at the MCV Campus Aquatic Center. Male only swims are on March 16 and March 30. This month's female only swim is on March 23. These special swim times are to better serve the VCU community with safe, judgement-free swimming.

Feminine Hygiene Drive for Homeless Women
VCU student organizations Sisters and Stethoscopes and Queen In You collaborate for a feminine hygiene drive from March 12-23 in the first floor lobbies of the following residence halls : Ackell, Brandt, The Honors College, Grace and Broad, Johnson, Rhoads, West Grace Student Housing-North, West Grace Street Student Housing-South and Cary and Belvidere. Acceptable donations are any new and unopened pads, tampons, underwear and sanitary wipes.

Postconcussion Syndrome Study
If you are age 21 or over, and have a diagnosis of Postconcussion syndrome, you may qualify to participate in a research study conducted in the Richmond, Va. area. Participants of this study will be asked to meet two times in a private area to protect confidentiality. Once to meet with the student investigator to complete four sets of questionnaires and receive a kit for collection of a sample of saliva for purposes of measuring a stress biomarker. A second shorter meeting will be required to pick up the sample of saliva. Compensation is available at completion of the study.
