Honors College: Continuing Student Information Session
4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Honors College invites current students to attend an information session in the Honors College, Multipurpose Room 1303, to learn about the benefits of joining the Honors College and how to apply. Attendance at an information session is required in order to apply.
SAVES Training: Part One
5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Students Advocating Violence Education and Support (SAVES) holds part two of its training for those interested in the University Student Commons, Alumni Board Room. Participants who attend both trainings will become a tier two, fully-trained member of SAVES. Trained members will be able to engage in all aspects of SAVES volunteer work including community education through public presentations. SAVES is a peer education group on campus speaking and raising awareness on the topics of sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking.
ASPiRE Information Session
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
VCU ASPiRE holds an information session in Brandt Hall, Conference Room. Attendees will learn how to serve the community locally, nationally and abroad through the ASPiRE living-learning program in 2018 and beyond. Current ASPiRE students will be available to share program information, personal experiences, the application process and answer questions.

Community Service Leaders Roundtable

The Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement hosts a roundtable in the University Student Commons, Shockoe Room. The discussion is open to student leaders who want to learn more about upcoming service opportunities, share successes and challenges in working with the community and learn more about upcoming leadership and civic engagement programs. Pizza will be provided.
Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia Tour
Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement invites the VCU community to take a guided tour of the newly updated Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, 122 W. Leigh St. The BHMVA will guide attendees through decades of visual, oral and written records and artifacts commemorating the lives and accomplishments of blacks in Virginia. After the tour, attendees are welcome to free admission to the exhibits, including a new black and white photography exhibit from the 1950s.
19th Annual Darwin Day
Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Graduate Organization of Biology Students and the Department of Biology presents the 19th annual Darwin Day featuring Anna Di Rienzo, Ph.D., Department of Human Genetics, University of Chicago, discussing "Human Diversity: Endless Forms Most Beautiful" in the University Student Commons, Commonwealth Ballrooms. Darwin Day will be a celebration of Charles Darwin's courage, integrity and devotion to the extension of human thought and vision of the world we inhabit. In spirit of Charles Darwin and his contributions to science and society, this event will serve to inspire the local community, promote intellectual curiosity and reflect on the veracity of scientific inquiry.
Third Annual Black Love Matters

The VCU Chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers, in partnership with the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, presents the third annual Black Love Matters event in the Larrick Student Center, Court End Ballroom B. There will be a relationship panel to discuss love and healthy relationships through various life stages, entertainment, dinner and music. The dress is cocktail attire. VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program: Cary Street Crux
Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at 9 a.m.
VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program presents the "Cary Street Crux" at the Cary Street Gym Climbing Wall. Beginner, intermediate and advanced climbers are invited to compete and test their skills against some of the best climbers on the East Coast. This year, the Crux is giving back through a service project on Friday, Feb. 9, at 8:15 a.m. at the North side of the Tyler Potterfield Bridge. The first 15 volunteers will receive a refund of the $20 admission fee.

Generation Dream 2018
Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and Richmond Peace Education sponsors Generation Dream at the Grace Street Theater, which offers the opportunity for a diverse cast of talented young people to make their voices heard during Black History Month. Through Generation Dream 2018, talented youth and supporting adult artists will perform original poems, music and dance pieces to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

VCUDine: The Big Game To-Go Specials
VCUDine offers food specials for the big game on Sunday, Feb. 4. For three swipes, students can get 1) a large cheese or pepperoni pizza, a dozen chicken wings with sauce and a two-liter soda from Market 810 and Jonah’s, or 2) 25 chicken fingers with sauce from Raising Cane’s. Pre-order on Friday, Feb. 2 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Shafer Court Dining Center. Order on game day by visiting Market 810, Jonah’s or Raising Cane’s. VCU Recreational Sports is offering four intramural sports tournaments that begin in February. Tournament registration for table tennis ends on Sunday, Feb. 11; racquetball on Sunday, Feb. 18; and three-point contest on Sunday, March 4.
