Women in Science at VCU: Winter Clothing Drive

Women in Science at VCU hosts its winter clothing drive from Jan. 22 through Feb. 2. Donations of new or lightly-used winter clothing, such as coats, hats, gloves/mittens and scarves are appreciated. Donations will go to Homeward/United Way serving the Greater Richmond and Petersburg area. Donation boxes can be found in Sanger Hall, Kontos Medical Sciences Building, Lyons Dental Building and the Wood Memorial Building.

VCU Recreational Sports: ACE Personal Trainer Prep Course

VCU Recreational Sports is offering an ACE Personal Trainer Prep Course, instructed by certified personal trainers with experience in the field. Throughout the eight-week course, participants will learn the skills and knowledge necessary to pass the ACE exam and go on to successfully train clients. This course does not include the exam for certification. Participation in the course includes the textbooks and a discount on the exam registration. Registration ends on Friday, Feb. 2.

14th Annual Women's Health Research Day: Abstracts Accepted

The Institute of Women's Health invites the VCU community to present research and projects at the 14th annual VCU Women's Health Research Day on Thursday, April 12, from 1-4:30 p.m. at the Kontos Medical Sciences Building. Authors with original research are invited to submit poster abstracts in any research area that focuses on women's health or sex/gender differences. Online abstract submission guidelines are available at the website below. The abstract submission deadline is Friday, Feb. 2.

Calling for New Moms to participate in the “Weight and Pregnancy” Research Study.

Are you a new mom (child aged 6-12 months)? Would you like to be in a research study about healthy lifestyle choices across pregnancy and the postpartum period? The “Weight and Pregnancy” study involves completing questionnaires with regarding aspects of nutrition, weight, physical activity, and interaction with your provider across your pregnancy and into the postpartum period (if applicable). This study will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and participants will be financially compensated.
