Check your VCU email for the Diverse Learning Environments Survey and enter to win prizes
Today, VCU launched the Diverse Learning Environments Campus Climate Survey to students. It is important for all students to participate as it is a tool for assessing current perceptions about diversity and inclusion at VCU. Results will inform the university’s plans related to campus diversity initiatives.
Students who participate could win one of two grand prizes for a free semester of on-campus parking or one of 100, $10 Starbucks gift cards.

VCU Master Plan Public Presentation
12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
The VCU Master Plan team has spent the last four months engaging a large cross-section of the VCU and Richmond community to develop an environmental scan of the campus. A public meeting will be held in the Temple Building, Room 1160, to summarize the existing opportunities and challenges for both campuses and the high-level themes that will serve as the foundation for the Design Phase of the project that will take place this spring. The presentation is an opportunity to learn more about the Master Plan process, see the results of community feedback to date, and ask questions of the Master Plan team.

English Faculty Forum: Michael Hall, 'Variations on a Paradoxical Theme: Gendered Mobility, Modern Travel, and Imagination in Zora Neale Hurston's Early Creative Works'

VCU English sponsors a brown bag lunch talk by Assistant Professor Michael Hall in Hibbs Hall, Room 308. Hall argues that Hurston's early novels, "Jonah's Gourd Vine" and "Their Eyes were Watching God," - both of which are influenced by Hurston's early ethnographic travels collecting folklore in the American South (1928-1932), present modern travel as a problem of mobility with gendered, racial and ethnic paradigmatic restrictions and impasses.

The VCU Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry and Innovation (iCubed) holds a "My Life, My Scholarship" symposium at the Monroe Park Campus Barnes & Noble @ VCU Cafe. Risha R. Berry, Ph.D., will share how her lived experience helped shape her interest in organizational containment, the structural barriers that impede career advancement in three phases: preparation, placement, and persistence. VCU Community Health Education Center Program: 'Finding Consumer Health Rare Disease Information'

VCU Community Health Education Center, located on the ground floor of the VCU Medical Center Gateway Building, hosts a workshop about finding rare disease information on Rare Disease Day. SEM Presents: 'Virtual Student Services Center'
2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Strategic Enrollment Management presents "Virtual Student Services Center" in the University Student Commons, Forum Room. This session will feature a discussion about the Virtual Student Services Center, including information about how the new center operates, review of metrics and data collected since the center has been in operation, pointers on how the VCU community can help us to be even more successful responding to student questions, and answers to question about the initiative.
Peace Corps Panel Discussion

VCU Globe and the Peace Corps hosts a panel discussion in West Grace Street Student Housing-North, Room 1030J. Attendees will learn about the challenging, rewarding and inspirational moments from a panel of returned Peace Corps volunteers. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about service and gain tips to guide participants through the application process.

Copyright for Creators series: 'Make Use of Fair Use'

VCU Libraries Copyright for Creators series presents a workshop on fair use, a doctrine in United States copyright law that permits certain uses of copyrighted works without permission from the copyright holder, in Cabell Library, Room 205. Those who want to assert their right to fair use must determine if their use is fair on a case-by-case basis, using the particular details and context of their use, the four factors set out in copyright law, and other relevant considerations. New look for Google Calendar and Resources
Google has redesigned the web calendar including a redesign of conference room (resource) scheduling. Since November, Google's new calendar has been available to all users. On February 28, all users will be moved to the new calendar when Google removes access to the old design. Calendar sharing to those outside the VCU domain will also be available.

VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program Sportable Climbing Clinics
The VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program presents Sportable Climbing Clinics at the Cary Street Gym Rock Climbing Wall. These provide indoor rock climbing experiences to members of the community with physical and visual disabilities. The next Sportable Climbing Clinics will be held on Thursday, February 22 and Thursday, March 1.
