Upcoming High School Graduation Impacts

VCU Police and VCU Parking & Transportation remind the VCU community that upcoming high school graduations will create interruptions to parking from June 6 to 8 and June 12 to 16. Additionally, traffic within the area surrounding the Siegel Center will be heavier than normal. West Broad Street Deck subscribers will be relocated to alternate facilities, and a dedicated shuttle service will be provided. Reciprocal parking will be disabled from June 6 to 8 and June 12 to 16.

Utility Work and Construction on MCV Campus: Reminders

Utility work and construction at and around the former VTCC site will affect traffic patterns around the MCV Campus over the next several months. For the complete schedule, see below. On May 29, the eastbound lane of Leigh Street, between 9th and 10th streets including the exit ramp from Leigh Street to 10th Street, will be reduced to one lane for about 6-8 weeks (late July). There will be increased traffic volume in this area throughout the duration. Street parking will remain closed on 10th Street and bus traffic will continue to be re-routed until November. The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities continues waterline relocation work on Leigh Street through mid-June. Be aware of possible short-term detours. 11th Street, just north of Clay Street, will be reduced down to one lane intermittently for the next 4-6 weeks (through the end of June). Demolition of the former VTCC building continues. The sidewalks on 10th and 11th will be closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the demolition and construction. For your safety please follow the detours in this area.

OCPE Personal and Professional Development Programs

The VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education (OCPE) offers a variety of classroom and online learning opportunities for VCU faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members. Continuing education is available in: Addiction Studies, Craft Beer, Disability Support Services, Event Planning, Noncredit Art, Organization, Paralegal Studies, Play Therapy Training, and Test Prep for the GMAT, GRE, LSAT, SAT and ACT. Noncredit online courses and certificates in Customer Service, Google Tools, and Workplace Skills are also offered.

VCU Recreational Sports Summer Hours Beginning May 12

VCU Recreational Sports summer hours begin Saturday, May 12. The Cary Street Gym will be open Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Complete hours for all facilities are available at the URL below.

VCU Recreational Sports Wellness in Motion provides educational opportunities to empower the community to make healthy choices regarding nutrition, exercise, mindfulness and stress relief. Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Exercise

This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have PTSD or symptoms of PTSD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of PTSD symptoms on blood vessel function at rest and during exercise. Participants will be compensated for their time. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

Volunteers needed for a Postpartum depression study

You may be able to take part in this study if: You are a female aged 18 to 45 years. You are experiencing Postpartum depression, witch started between the start of the third trimester and four weeks following delivery. Given birth in the last 12 months. Must agree to stop breastfeeding from start of the study treatment to seven days after infusion. You will be compensated for your time and travel.

VCU Recreational Sports Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons

VCU Recreational Sports offers Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons year round. These lessons come in different packages from 2, 4, or 6 hours, and can be used in increments of 15 minute time blocks. Registration is available online through the MyRecSports portal, or in person at the Cary Street Gym.
