Jordan-Zachery is director of Black Studies, professor of Public and Community Service Studies and author of "Shadow Bodies: Black Women, Ideology, Representation, and Politics." There will also be a performance with The Conciliation Project and VCU's Dr. Tawnya Pettiford-Wates, "A Slide/Drum/Poetic Prologue: The Conciliation Project," and food provided.

Tau Beta Pi 'Pi Day'

Tau Beta Pi invites the VCU community to "Pi Day" in the Engineering West Hall Courtyard. Games and competitions start at 2 p.m. in the Upper Courtyard, culminating in the Pie-A-Professor event at 3:14 p.m. You can vote for which professor from the four departments (BME, CLSE, ECE, and MNE) to be pied by donating money in the donation cans that will be placed in the department offices. All money donated will go to charity.

Saturday, Mar. 17, 2018 at 9 a.m.
EarthHacks at VCU hosts an event at the Science Museum of Virginia, 2500 W Broad St., for students of all majors to develop solutions to real-world environmental challenges. Multidisciplinary teams will have 24 hours to learn from mentors, brainstorm and generate solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems. Depending upon the problem, proposed solutions can involve hardware, software, art, text and other materials.

VCU Recreational Sports Adult Swim Lessons
VCU Recreational Sports Aquatics offers Adult Swim Lessons during the spring semester at the Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center and MCV Campus Aquatic Center. There are lessons for all skills levels, whether you are new to swimming or are a fitness swimmer. Registration ends on March 16 for Saturday and weekday lessons.

Great Place: HR Redesign FAQ: What happens to current leave balances if you switch to the new plan?
Employees annual leave balance will roll into the new university leave bucket. Employees in the Virginia Sickness and Disability Plan will also have their sick and personal/family leave balances rolled into the new leave bucket. Accrued sick leave from employees currently in the Traditional Sick Leave Plan will be banked if needed for use in the future. On July 1 employees will receive half of the annual university leave allotment. Carryforward limits will not be applied until December 2019.

Faculty and Staff in VRS Hybrid Plan: March 15 Deadline Is Approaching for Voluntary Contribution Elections
Virginia Retirement System Hybrid Plan participants can change voluntary contributions once per calendar quarter. March 15 is the election deadline for changes to become effective in April. Participants can voluntarily contribute up to 4% of creditable salary to the Hybrid 457 component of the Hybrid Plan, and receive up to a 2.5% Hybrid Cash Match.
