Green Unity hosts the annual Earth Day Bazaar in the University Student Commons Plaza. The Bazaar features student and community vendors selling everything from jewelry to plants and more.
'Supply the Y’ VCU Police Supply Drive for YWCA Richmond
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
As part of sexual assault awareness month, VCU Police is helping the Richmond YWCA stock up for the summer during "Supply the Y" in front of Wal-Mart on Campus, 912 W. Grace St. Officers will be collecting supplies, and will accept new (or gently used) items to help local women, children and families including: twin and full-size sheets, new blankets, towels, washcloths, art supplies, hand soap, laundry detergent, house-cleaning supplies, diapers and baby toiletries. The Richmond YWCA assists sexual assault and domestic abuse survivors in the greater Richmond community.

RamStrong Health and Wellbeing Fair

VCU Human Resources and Recreational Sports host the VCU RamStrong Health and Wellbeing Fair in the Cary Street Gym. Membership not required. Participating vendors include Active Health, Anthem and Aetna Employee Assistance Programs, Capital Square Healthcare, Virginia Credit Union and other VCU health and wellness partners.
iCubed My Life, My Scholarship: Jan Ivery, Ph.D.

The VCU Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry and Innovation (iCubed) holds a "My Life, My Scholarship" symposium at the Monroe Park Campus Barnes & Noble @ VCU Cafe. The next event features Dr. Jan Ivery, associate professor from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga and visiting scholar within the iCubed Social Justice core and the School of Social Work. She will share how her how her lived experiences and informal mentoring opportunities have shaped her interest in community-based interventions and strategies for social change. Global Café

The Global Education Office invites the VCU community to the final Global Café of the semester in the University Student Commons, Richmond Salons I-II. Come experience a variety of cuisines and cultures from around the world. This student-centered program is designed to increase awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity at VCU, and you’ll meet students from across the globe. Each café has a different theme and refreshments are always served.

Symphonic Wind Ensemble and University Band

VCU Music presents the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and University Band, conducted by Dr. Terry Austin, in the W.E. Singleton Center's Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. This concert will feature guest conductor Dennis J. Zeisler and the world premeire of Adam Silverman's composition, "The Rule of Five," with guest performers, the Novus Percutere Percussion Duo. Lobs & Lessons and Richmond Public Schools are seeking volunteers for the 9th annual Young Aces Open. The event brings 208 elementary schools to VCU for a day of celebrating their tennis skills in a team-centered environment. The event involves a mixed doubles tennis tournament along with various educational and healthy lifestyle activity stations. VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program Trekking in Peru
The VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program will host a trip to northern Peru from May 12-20 to explore the Cordillera Blanca mountain range. The cost will be $495 for students and $650 for faculty/staff, including food, transportation, permits, and equipment. Airfare is not included.

Adult Research Volunteers Invited
The Kinesiology and Health Science Department at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking male participants interested in participating in a research project that will assess the impact of a high active or low active lifestyle and cellular aging on cognitive performance. Participants will be entered for a chance to win an Amazon gift card. To participate, you must be a healthy male adult between 40 and 64 years old with a body mass index (BMI) less than 30.0 (assessed by the research staff). You will be asked to come in for two visits in the morning for an exercise test and two brief cognitive tests. If you are an individual who has a history of cancer in the last ten years, preexisting inflammatory or metabolic diseases (i.e., cardiovascular disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis), or are on medications that may alter inflammation or metabolism, you may not be eligible for this study.
Participants Are Invited for Study Examining Sedentary Activity and Vascular Function
We are seeking young (18-35 years) and old adults (65+ years) to participate in a study examining the effect of prolonged sitting on blood vessel function. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
