Elske v.P. Smith Lecture: Dr. Judyth Twigg

The College of Humanities and Sciences presents the annual Eslke v.P. Smith lecture featuring Dr. Judyth Twigg, Department of Political Science, for a lecture on "Demography as Destiny: Politics and Human Capital in Putin's Russia" in the University Student Commons, Richmond Salons I-II. Twigg was this year's award recipient in recognition of her outstanding professorship.

Careers in Organ Donation Panel

The Office of Pre-Professional Health Advising and Pre-Health Advising host a medical team from the VCU Hume-Lee Transplant Center for a panel discussion about health care career opportunities in organ donation and transplantation in the Temple Building, Room 1165. Hear from a transplant surgeon, physician, nurse, pharmacist, administrator and more about different health care roles in the organ donation to transplantation care continuum and learn about VCU's transplant program offerings.

Art Therapy & Mental Health Awareness Art Show & Reception
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Sciences Club at VCU is pleased to present a collection of mixed media artwork and photographs that seek to increase awareness regarding mental health and mental health treatments at the Depot, 814 W. Broad St. The one-night show and reception will feature light hor d'oeuvres and refreshments.
Photoshop Editing Workshop

Photography Club at VCU holds a Photoshop editing workshop at West Grace Student Housing - North, Room 1030. For beginner to advanced levels, learn techniques to make your pictures prize-worthy, and get individual time with our officers. The first 15 people to attend will receive Adobe water bottles, pop-sockets, and other giveaways. A laptop is required.
A Forum of Muslim Feminists

VCU's Humphrey Fellows partner with Reynolds Community College for a panel discussion and Q&A highlighting the voices and experiences of American and international Muslim women leaders, to be held at Reynolds Parham Road Campus, 1651 E. Parham Rd., Workforce Development and Conference Center, Conference Center Gallery. Light refreshments will be served.
Kevin Kling : 'The Healing Power of Story'
7 p.m.
The VCUarts Department of Interior Design invites the VCU community to a presentation by Kevin Kling on the theme of healing in storytelling in the Grace Street Theater, 934 W. Grace St. Kling was born with a congenital birth defect - a shortened left arm with no wrist or thumb. Fourteen years ago, a devastating motorcycle accident left him with a paralyzed right arm. Kling channels his profound experiences with trauma, disability and loss into stories that bring a message of healing and connection to audiences around the world.
VCU Levis Reading Prize - Solmaz Sharif
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
VCU's annual Levis Reading Prize hosts a reading by the 2017 winner, Solmaz Sharif, in the Cabell Library Lecture Hall, Room 303. The Levis Prize is awarded annually in the name of the late Larry Levis for the best first or second book of poetry published in the previous calendar year. This event is free and open to the public.

Sculpture's Annual Chili Cook-off

VCU's Department of Sculpture + Extended Media hosts the Third Annual Chili Cook-off in the Fine Arts Building, Lobby. $5 for all you can eat chili, with all proceeds going towards the Sculpture Senior Show. 'Phi Rho Your Boat'

Phi Sigma Rho Rho Omega Chapter presents a fundraising boat competition in Cary Street Gym's Aquatic Center. Teams will engineer and build a boat out of recyclables with one person paddling it, then race their boats in the pool. 40% of proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

'How to Create a Research Poster'

April's COBE Connect Lunch Series

Her talk, "Re-victimization and Resiliency: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Working with All Students" highlights the unique needs of students who come to college having experienced sexual assault, and shares ways that bystander intervention programs can focus on strengthening assets found to be protective factors against re-victimization. Battle of the Rams

The Center for Cultural Experiences hosts the Battle of the Rams in the University Student Commons, Rams Lounge. A four-part competition consists of Heads Up, Jenga with a Twist, Beer Goggles Challenge and Taboo. The Theme of the night will be "sexual health." There will be prizes for first and second place teams. Food will be provided.
Franklin Street Artistic Mansions: A Lecture and Tour with Charles Brownell, Ph.D.

Art historian Charles Brownell, Ph.D., lectures on the architecture and interior design of three significant structures in the heart of VCU's Monroe Park Campus in the James Branch Cabell Library Lecture Hall, Room 303. Following the one-hour talk, Brownell will lead a tour of these artistic mansions that now house VCU offices. Note that the walking tour has a waiting list. 'The Business of Craft Beer'

VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program 'Learn How to Fix a Flat'
VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program will hold "Learn How to Fix a Flat" on April 2, 10, 17 and 23, 6-7 p.m., in the Outing Rental Center, behind the Youth Tennis Courts on Linden Street. Learn how to fix and how you can prevent flat tires. Bring your own bike or use one of ours. If you require a flat fixed on your bike, we do not sell bicycle inner tubes, please bring your own. Fulbright Scholar Program open for applications
The application for the 2019-2020 Fulbright Scholar Awards is open for faculty, staff and administrators who are interested in applying. Information sessions regarding the Fulbright Scholar Awards will be scheduled later this spring, if there is enough interest. The deadline for applying for the 2019-2020 awards is August 1, 2018.

Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Exercise
This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have PTSD or symptoms of PTSD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of PTSD symptoms on blood vessel function at rest and during exercise. Participants will be compensated for their time. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
