Salsa and Bachata Workshop
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Muevelo at VCU is hosting a Salsa and Bachata workshop in West Grace Street Student Housing - South, Room 1004A (835 W. Grace St.). Participants will learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata and social dancing techniques. No experience needed and all levels are welcomed.
Supporting LGBTQ+ Incarcerated Youth
7 p.m.
Young Democratic Socialists of America at VCU and SWS host a Black and Pink Potluck in the Academic Learning Commons, Room 1100. Black and Pink is a United States prison abolitionist organization supporting LGBTQ and HIV-positive prisoners. participants can write letters to incarcerated youth, eat food and mingle with like-minded members of the community.
'Key Women in Islam'
7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The Muslim Students Association invites the VCU community to "Key Women in Islam" at Trani Center for Life Sciences, Room 250. The lecture led by Dr. Samaneh Oladi Ghadikolaei will address significant Muslim women who have made great contributions to society. Refreshments will be provided.

Students Helping Honduras Thrift Shop
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Students Helping Honduras at VCU will be holding a pop-up thrift shop in the University Student Commons Plaza. All proceeds will go directly towards the construction of a school in Honduras.

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry presents "Geometric Machine Learning Reveals Functional Pathways of the Ryanodine Receptor from Single-Particle Cryo-EM," as a part of its 2018 spring seminar series, in BioTech One, Founders Conference Room. Amedee des Georges, assistant professor, Advanced Science Research Center and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, CUNY, New York, will facilitate.
VCU Commonwealth Singers and VCU Women's Choir

The VCU Commonwealth Singers directed by Erin Freeman and VCU Women’s Choir directed by Rebecca Tyree present "Open Minds: Music that Mends," in the W.E. Singleton Center's Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. This concert will feature music with themes of understanding, sorrow, love, and social justice, and will include the public premiere of professor Antonio García’s composition, "Open Minds, Closer Thoughts." Free admission.

Delta Eta and the Public Health Student Organization James River Cleanup Event
Saturday, Apr. 7, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Delta Eta and the Public Health Student Organization at VCU sponsor a cleanup of the James River at Floodwall Park, 101 Hull St. Richmond, VA 23224. Gloves and trash bags will be provided to any member of the VCU community who wants to help pick up litter in honor of National Public Health Week.

Undergraduate students: Apply for library inclusive excellence fellowship by April 12
VCU Libraries encourages undergraduate students from underrepresented racial or ethnic groups who are interested in librarianship to apply for the 2018-19 Association of Research Libraries Fellowship for Digital and Inclusive Excellence by April 12. The award is a year's paid internship. Eligibility: be enrolled as an undergraduate at VCU or another ARL Library; express an interest in exploring career or graduate study in the library, information science or archives fields.
