'CRAFT - Work for Change, Don't Wait for Rock Bottom'

Rams in Recovery presents "CRAFT - Work for Change, Don't Wait for Rock Bottom" at VCU's Motivate Clinic, first floor conference room, Jackson Building, 501 N. 2nd St. CRAFT teaches family and friends strategies for helping their loved ones who are struggling with substance use issues or disorders by changing the way they interact with their loved one.
VCU Small Jazz Ensembles: International Jazz Day

The VCU Small Jazz Ensembles perform on International Jazz Day in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall at the W.E. Singleton Center, 922 Park Avenue. There will be six combos and music by Clifford Brown, Chick Corea, Kenny Dorham, Duke Ellington, Joe Henderson, Jerome Kern, Wayne Shorter, Billy Strayhorn, Cedar Walton, VCU students and more. The May COBE Connect Lunch will be a special guided mindfulness session at the new Institute for Contemporary Art, 601 W. Broad St. This is the kick-off event for an ongoing partnership with the ICA, offering Tuesday lunchtime Mindfulness Meditation at the ICA. An Unchained Utopia: A World Without Prisons

VCU’s Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies department is coordinating "An Unchained Utopia: A World Without Prisons" at the University Student Commons Plaza. This showcase will raise awareness on the topic of mass incarceration and feature artwork from local incarcerated individuals in order to provide their narrative on the topic. We will have a sign-up sheet for anyone interested in having a prison pen-pal and will also be accepting book donations for the Diversion Center.

Sudan Day

The Sudanese Student Association presents its Sudan Day at the University Student Commons Plaza. The event will showcase various aspects of Sudanese culture through henna, a photo booth and will be capped off with a cultural fashion show featuring Sudanese clothing. Free food will be provided.
Campus Learning Center inaugural Reading Day

The Campus Learning Center (CLC) is hosting its inaugural Reading Day event in Hibbs Hall, first floor. We will have walk-in, 15 minute, academic coaching sessions focused on how to study for specific exams, drop-in tutoring for most courses and special Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions for ACS exams in organic chemistry and general chemistry. The annual Black & Gold & You campaign, which runs through May 16, is an opportunity for faculty and staff members to give back to VCU. Participation is the goal. No amount is too small. Student parking hours extended during exams
This semester, Parking and Transportation is extending the Monroe Park Campus reciprocal parking hours for all student commuter, housing and evening parking permits to assist students with exam preparation from April 30 to May 11. During this time, all student parking subscribers will be able to park in the West Main Street Deck, located at 801 W. Main Street, during new, designated days and times.
