The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and Rec Sports present Wellness Fridays in the University Student Commons, Suite 215. This week's activity will be mindfulness. Enjoy mindfulness training, snacks and giveaways.
Earth Week 2018: Zero-Waste Picnic
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Office of Sustainability is hosting a Zero-Waste Picnic in the Grace Street Green Space (813 W. Grace St.) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be games, free seedlings from the VCU Learning Gardens and free food catered by Ellwood Thompson's.
Butts Up with the BHRL
11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Celebrate Earth Day on April 20 by picking up cigarette butts around VCU. All supplies are provided, and prizes will be given out for the most butts collected. This event is sponsored by the VCU Behavioral Health Research Lab.

"The Mechanical Eye" Photography Guest Speaker
2 p.m.
Photography Club at VCU presents guest speaker Alan Davis at West Grace Street Student Housing-South, Room 1004H. Alan is a insightful and entertaining professor on creativity and curiosity, and will speak about lenses, camera mechanics and his photography experience/perspective.
Earth Week 2018: Solar Energy Book Talk and Panel Discussion

Green Unity at VCU is hosting author Erik Curren to discuss his latest novel, "The Solar Patriot," in the University Student Commons Theater, followed by a panel on renewable energy with Aaron Sutch of Solar United Neighbors and Derek Wegner of Dominion Energy.
'Praise & Prayer Night'
6 p.m.
Christ Centered Fellowship hosts 'Praise & Prayer Night' in the University Student Commons, Forum Room. Food will be served.

ICA Grand Opening and Block Party
Saturday, Apr. 21, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU opens to the public on April 21 with a site-wide exhibition, "Declaration," and a day-long Block Party showcasing Richmond’s curious-minded culture. Block Party will offer interactive activities, food and live music and performances emceed by Kelli Lemon with DJ Lonnie B. Held outdoors on the Markel Center grounds, Block Party is free and open to the public. This is a rain or shine event.

Dia de Ciencias (Day of Science)

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at VCU will be hosting its 2nd annual Dia de Ciencias (Day of Science) in Engineering West Hall, Room 101. First-generation Latinx high school students in the surrounding Richmond area will have an opportunity to explore the VCU campus while engaging in hands-on STEAM activities. This event will be held in English and Spanish.

Possible Campus Connector Impacts on April 20
Due to the large crowds expected on Capitol Square on April 20, there may be service interruptions to the Campus Connector at the 7th Street, Franklin Street and One Capitol Square stops. If crowds do impede service, these stops may be closed, and the Campus Connector may travel an alternative route north along 7th Street to bypass traffic. Passengers are encouraged to monitor real time status information for the Connector, including impacts to service, at vcu.transloc.com or through the VCU Mobile app.
VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program Youghiogheny River Rafting Weekend
The VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program will host a Whitewater River Rafting Weekend on the Youghiogheny River April 28-29. The cost for this trip will be $75 for students and $85 for staff/faculty/members. Price includes food, transportation, equipment and guides. Registration is available online through MyRecSports portal at the URL below, or in person at the Outing Rental Center.

Food for Fines: Donate to RamPantry and VCU Libraries waives late fees and fines April 22-May 12
VCU Libraries will host a food drive at the information desks of the Cabell and Tompkins-McCaw libraries April 22 - May 12 to stock RamPantry @ VCU. In this case, generosity has an added benefit for people who owe fines or certain fees for library materials. For each food item a person donates, VCU Libraries will waive $5 in fines up to a $30 maximum. To qualify, materials must be returned. Fees for damaged and lost items will not be waived.
