Monroe Park Campus Parking Sales to Take Place July 26
The fall 2018 Monroe Park Campus permit sale will take place online at 7 a.m. Thursday, July 26. All Monroe Park Campus commuter permits will go on sale at this time. Permits may be purchased at parking.vcu.edu, and all students must be registered for classes prior to purchasing.

Leigh St. Moustafa El-Araby, associate professor in the pharmaceutical department at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will facilitate.

VCU Police/American Red Cross Blood Drive
Monday, Jul. 30, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The VCU Police Department will hold a blood drive at its headquarters at 224 E. Broad St. The department has set a goal to collect 25 pints of blood this summer for the American Red Cross, which has an emergency need for all blood types. Each donor will have the chance to win two tickets to Kings Dominion. Walk-ins are welcome, or to make an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code "VCUPD." Visitor parking is available in the headquarters parking lot.

VCU Recreational Sports Powerlifting Meet
Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
VCU Recreational Sports is hosting its first Ram Strength Powerlifting Meet at Cary Street Gym, 101 S. Linden St. Judging will be in accordance with USA Powerlifting regulations. An informational session will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 25 in the Cary Street Gym's WET Classroom. Registration is $15 and ends July 29.

Sign Up for Dissertation/Thesis Planning 'Summer Camp'
Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
VCU Libraries is offering a free, one-day session to help doctoral and master's candidates prepare for their dissertation or thesis. Topics include copyright, metadata, files formats, managing data and version control. This planning camp, to be held at James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., with simulcast at Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences, 500 N. 12th St., will be followed up with a writing camp in January. Host a Fulbright Scholar This Summer
VCU's Global Education Office is seeking volunteers to host two to four international Fulbright Scholars for dinner in their homes or a favorite restaurant on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Fulbright scholars from across the globe will be visiting VCU for a brief orientation program before the United States portion of their Fulbright experience. Transportation is required.

Day Hike to Crabtree Falls
VCU's Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program has scheduled a Saturday, Aug. 4 day hike to Nelson County's Crabtree Falls in the George Washington National Forest. Crabtree is one of the tallest sets of waterfalls in the United States east of the Mississippi River. Pack a lunch; food is not provided. Registration ends July 31.

Heart Rate Variability Study
Researchers in VCU's Department of Health Behavior Policy are seeking to learn more about the relationship between anxiety, health and mood. Participants may show any intensity of anxiety from nonsevere to severe. Potential participants in this research study must be between the ages of 18 and 35 and able to safely participate in physical activity, but not currently participating in an exercise program. Those chosen will be compensated for their time.

Participants Sought for Weight-Loss Program
Researchers at VCU are offering a new behavioral weight-loss program funded by the National Institutes for Health. The REACH Trial is designed specifically for young adults; qualified participants will receive personalized feedback and coaching to meet their goals. Potential participants should be between the ages of 18 and 25 and overweight.
