Sickle Cell Awareness

NAACP at VCU and Fuzion Modeling presents the Sickle Cell Awareness Extravaganza, a fashion show, in Room 101, Grace E. Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave. Student tickets are $8. Proceeds will go to sickle cell research. Also, NAACP at VCU will be accepting donations of hot and cold compresses, writing utensils, notepads, new blankets, thermometers, toothpaste and toothbrushes for sickle cell patients at Massey Cancer Center. NAACP at VCU will be tabling through Sept. 28 in the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave.

Making Sense of the Burr Conspiracy

Lewis Jr., Ph.D., professor at Kalamazoo College, who will discuss in the lecture hall at James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., one of the most celebrated, controversial trials of the 19th century that took place in Richmond in 1807. The defendant was Aaron Burr — Revolutionary War hero, slayer of Alexander Hamilton and former vice president of the United States. The most important of the charges against him was treason. How had Burr come to that point?

alpha Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, Inc., at VCU is sponsoring a number of activities to help spread awareness of breast cancer and to benefit the sorority's Breast Cancer Initiative. The sorority will be tabling 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Hibbs side of the Compass. The sorority will stage a volleyball tournament 6-8 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Cary Street Gym. The sorority will have a Chicken Fiesta Fundraiser 2-5 p.m. Oct. 10 in the lobby of the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Orders will be accepted through Oct. 7.

The Survey and Evaluation Research Laboratory in the Center for Public Policy at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs offers free one-hour consultation to faculty, staff and graduate students regarding survey and program evaluation projects. Now in its 36th year, SERL is also a resource for survey or program evaluation proposals, project design, instrument development, data collection, analysis and reporting.
