1619: Rethinking the History of Africans and Slavery in Early America

Learn more about Virginia's role in the story of America with Michael Guasco, Ph.D. He is an associate professor of history at Davidson College and the author of "Slaves and Englishmen: Human Bondage in the Early Modern Atlantic World." The event, the first in the year-long series "Virginia's Past, Present, and Future," is presented by VCU's Humanities Research Center and Department of History in partnership with American Evolution: Virginia to America, 1619-2019. The talk will be in the third-floor lecture hall, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave.

Pace Center's Servant Leadership Institute Overview

Spring Break Climbing Trip to Red Rocks
VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program will host a climbing trip to the Red Rocks in the western United States. The trip, for beginners and those with experience, will be March 2-10. Spring Break Road Trip in Northern Patagonia
VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure will host a northern Patagonia road trip during spring break. Participants will travel down the Carretera Austral, the highway of national parks in Chilean Patagonia. Activities during the March 2-10 trip include camping, hiking, interacting with residents and service projects. Submission Deadline Extended for Brain Injury Rehabilitation Conference
The deadline for poster and oral presentation submissions for the 43rd Annual Brain Injury Rehabilitation Conference has been extended to Feb. 15. The conference is co-produced by the VCU School of Medicine's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department and the Brain Injury Association of Virginia. Proposals are being accepted for the Celebration of Teaching and Learning Excellence Symposium.
