Health Test Study Involving Young Black Women

A survey involves young black women and their thoughts about HIV testing. If you identify as a black or African American woman (ages 18-24), you may qualify to participate in an online survey study by VCU Psychology on thoughts and beliefs related to HIV testing. Participants Sought for Study Evaluating Neural Pathway Excitability

Males and females ages 18-65 are sought for a research investigation. The VCU Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking participants for a research investigation into the effects of noninvasive brain stimulation on the excitability of neural pathways. This study involves transcranial magnetic stimulation, which is a noninvasive and widely used brain stimulation technique. Volunteers will be compensated. Recruitment is ongoing.

Male Participants Sought for Research Project

Males ages 40-65 are sought for a research project. VCU's Kinesiology and Health Science Department is conducting a research project to assess the impact of a high active or low active lifestyle and cellular aging on cognitive performance. Participants will be entered for a chance to win an Amazon gift card. Participants must be healthy, with a body mass index less than 30.0 (assessed by the research staff). Two morning visits for an exercise test and brief cognitive tests are required. Individuals with a history of cancer in the last 10 years, pre-existing inflammatory or metabolic diseases (i.e., cardiovascular disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis) or are on medications that may alter inflammation or metabolism may not be eligible for this study.

Are you 18-25 Years Old and Do You Smoke Cigarettes?

Men and women cigarette smokers ages 18-25 are invited to participate in a research project. The study requires five, three-hour laboratory visits. Compensation (up to $360) is provided. Principal investigator is Andrew Barnes, Ph.D., VCU's Department of Health Behavior and Policy. The study will be conducted at Thurston House, 808 W. Franklin St.
