Presidential Management Fellowship Information Session

The National Scholarship Office will hold an information session for the Presidential Management Fellowship in Room 250, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. A second session will be held at noon on Sept. 28 in Room 109, Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences, 509 N. 12th St. Graduate students interested in pursuing employment with a federal government agency are encouraged to attend. Also, faculty members are encouraged nominate graduate students to apply to the program.

Sickle Cell Awareness
Saturday, Sep. 29, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
NAACP at VCU and Fuzion Modeling presents the Sickle Cell Awareness Extravaganza, a fashion show, in Room 101, Grace E. Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave. Student tickets are $8. Proceeds will go to sickle cell research. Also, NAACP at VCU will be accepting donations of hot and cold compresses, writing utensils, notepads, new blankets, thermometers, toothpaste and toothbrushes for sickle cell patients at Massey Cancer Center. NAACP at VCU will be tabling through Sept. 28 in the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave.

'Under the Same Moon' Screening and Discussion

Use of Personal Vehicles for Business Travel
Those who choose to drive their personal vehicle for VCU business should know that the Commonwealth’s auto insurance plan does not cover personal vehicles. In most instances, the plan also does not provide liability coverage for the driver when using a personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement is encouraged and is expected to supplement the cost of the owner’s insurance. However, the Commonwealth's auto insurance plan may accept liability for judgments that exceed the driver’s personal auto liability limit.

On-Campus Flu Shots for Employees
Human Resources provides eligible VCU faculty and staff with seasonal flu shots on a first-come, first-served basis beginning in October. Participants Sought for Study of Stress Reduction Programs
VCU's Department of Psychology (principal investigator Kirk Warren Brown, Ph.D.) seeks participants in a research study of two stress reduction programs. Those who take part will receive a free, 14-day smartphone-based stress reduction course and receive up to $300.

South Asian Women Sought for Research Study
Researchers in VCU’s Department of Psychology are interested in learning more about body image and wellness in South Asian women over the age of 18. Participation includes a 90-minute focus group and the completion of a demographic survey. Compensation is available. Participants eligible for SONA may qualify for research credits.

Pwatem Literature and Art - Submissions Deadline
Pwatem is seeking writing submissions relating to autonomy. Selected submissions will be published in the fall 2018 chapbook, Rabble. Pwatem is also soliciting submissions of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, experimental writing and proposals for performances addressing the theme of radical queer self-love for an Oct. 20 event. Submissions for both Rabble and the radical queer self-love event are due Oct. 2.
