Calendars featuring VCU's Dogs On Call therapy dogs will be on sale for $10 at the Learning Center, Main Hospital, 1250 E. Marshall St. All proceeds support Dogs On Call and VCU's Center for Human-Animal Interaction.

Grant Writing Workshop: 'Developing a Research Idea'
Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 from noon to 1 p.m.
VCU's C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research will present a series of seminars on grant writing. Each session, for early-career faculty researchers, covers a topic related to writing a competitive research grant application and is taught by senior faculty researchers. The Jan. 10 workshop, in Room 3-101, James W. and Frances G. McGlothlin Medical Education Center, 1201 E. Seminar on Collaborations to Combat Addictions

"Collaborations in Addiction," a seminar about the future and next steps in combating addictions, has been scheduled. Michael Fox, doctor of osteopathy and current addiction fellow at VCU Health, will discuss his path to becoming a specialist in addiction medicine. The event will be hosted by VCU's Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care and will be held in Room 104/105, Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building, 1217 E. VCU Recreational Sports To Host Spring Family Day
Saturday, Mar. 23, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program will host a Spring Family Day at the Rice Rivers Center. The day will include a sampling of upcoming camps and programs for students in grades four-11 at the center, 3701 John Tyler Memorial Highway, Charles City. Registration ends March 20.

Dissertation and Thesis Writers: VCU Libraries Hosts Free Writing Event
VCU Libraries will host a two-day writing retreat which concludes Jan. 8. The event is for all-but-dissertation students, doctoral candidates and masters thesis writers. The free retreat will be held in Room 303, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. Writing space with big tables and power strips will be available 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Optional sessions will be offered on varied topics. Coffee and snacks will be served. One-on-one writing and research consultations will be available. Register at the following URL.

VCU Recreational Sports Small Group Training Registration Open
VCU Recreational Sports Fitness offers courses designed for smaller groups with more dedicated attention. Course options include faculty/staff functional fitness, advanced boot camp, women on weights and MCV small group training. Registration is open through Feb. 8.
