Valerie Cassel Oliver: Intersection of Art and Activism

VCU's Institute for Contemporary Art and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will host the event, with VMFA Curator Valerie Cassel Oliver and VCU Assistant Professor Chioke I’Anson, at the VMFA's Leslie Cheek Theater, 200 N. Boulevard. The conversation will explore how Pindell has moved between figurative and abstract painting in an effort to assert her place as an African American woman in the field of contemporary art.

'Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Express'

VCU Alumni Holiday Ornament
The VCU Office of Alumni Relations has created the first in a series of holiday ornaments. The ornaments pay tribute to campus landmarks. The inaugural 2018 ornament features the Egyptian Building, the first permanent home of the Medical Department of Hampden-Sydney College (later the Medical College of Virginia). The cost of the ornament is $28 plus shipping (Virginia residents add 4.3 percent sales tax).

Loaner Laptops at Cabell Library
Cabell Library kiosks dispensing loaner laptops are out of order until further notice. Users can turn to the public desktop computers available on floors 1-4 in James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. Students may also go to the IT Support Center on the lower level. The center will have a limited number of laptops (30) available for checkout beginning Nov. 26. This service is available to VCU students. A VCUCard is required and loan time is limited to 24 hours.

Food for Fines Drive Helps Stock RamPantry, Waives Library Fines
VCU Libraries will host a food drive through Dec. 18 to stock RamPantry @ VCU. Contributors who owe fines or certain fees for library materials will derive an added benefit.
