Covering the Opioid Epidemic in Virginia: What Journalists Need to Know

A seminar is scheduled on covering the opioid crisis. The Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture, Society of Professional Journalists VCU Chapter, Virginia Pro Chapter SPJ and Virginia Department of Health Professions will host the event, in the T. Edward Temple Building, Room 1165, 901 W. Main St. Journalists, student journalists and the public are invited to attend. Topics will include the rising number of opioid-related deaths; the kinds of drugs involved, such as heroin, fentanyl and prescription medications; how to access data to track the problem; and what government agencies are doing to address the epidemic.
