TRIO Student Support Services and The Money Spot at VCU presents Money Mondays: Credit Cards 101. The event will be held in the Metro Room, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. A representative from the Virginia Credit Union will answer questions about applying for a credit card, using it properly and the impact of credit cards on credit scores.

Mindful Mondays: Drawing Mandalas

VCU's Wellness Resource Center will host a Mindful Mondays session during which participants will create a drawing of a mandala, a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism. The event will be held on the third floor of the center, 815 S. Cathedral Place.

Universal Design for Learning Workshop on Content Presentation

Cary Street Crux, a Climbing Event

VCU Recreational Sports' Outdoor Adventure Program will host a climbing event, Cary Street Crux, at the Cary Street Gym, 101 S. Linden St. The event is part of the Eastern Edge Climbing Series within Virginia and North Carolina universities. Prizes will be awarded and snacks and T-shirts will be available. Registration is open until Feb. 9, the day of the event.

Visiting Artist Lecture: Devan Shimoyama
Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019 at 2:30 p.m.
The VCU Department of Painting and Printmaking will present a lecture by Devan Shimoyama at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. Shimoyama has exhibited internationally and currently has a solo exhibition, "Cry, Baby," at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. He is a full-time faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University and lives and works in Pittsburgh.

Discovering How Family History Can Help Understand Problem Drinking

Documentary Screening: 'Finding Joseph I'

EHL To Host Suturing Workshop

Virginia Global Surgery Symposium

The Virginia Global Surgery Symposium will be held at the James W. and Frances G. McGlothlin Medical Education Center, 1201 E. Marshall St. More than 30 speakers are scheduled, from VCU, Harvard, Yale, USUHS/Walter Reed, University of North Carolina, University of Virginia, University of Florida, Orlando Health, Rutgers, University of Utah and others. The annual open enrollment period for the VCU Optional Retirement Plan allows participating faculty and University and Academic Professionals to change their investment company selection to either TIAA or Fidelity for future ORP contributions. A traveling exhibit examines the participation and contributions of African Americans as nurses, surgeons and hospital workers during the Civil War. "Binding Wounds, Pushing Boundaries: African Americans in Civil War Medicine," from the National Library of Medicine, will be on view at Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences, 509 N. 12th St., Feb. 4-March 16. Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies Research Opportunity
If you are interested in stopping or reducing your drinking, VCU's Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies may have a study for you. Adults aged 21-70 who drink regularly/every day are invited to participate in a 16-week research study at VCU. Eligible participants will receive brief counseling as well as study medication (active drug or inactive placebo). All appointments and sessions are individual, provided at no cost and confidential.
