Call for Proposals: Celebration of Teaching and Learning Excellence Symposium

Proposals are being accepted for the Celebration of Teaching and Learning Excellence Symposium. The symposium, to be held April 26 on the fourth floor of the Academic Learning Commons, 1000 Floyd Ave., and hosted by VCU's Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence, will bring together VCU educators to share strategies about student learning in a higher education context, collaborate with colleagues and cultivate networks across disciplines. Adaptive Climbing With Sportable

VCU Recreational Sports is partnering with Sportable RVA to offer an adaptive climbing series at the Cary Street Gym, 101 S. Linden St. The series, Feb. 13, Feb. 20 and Feb. 27, is open to students with disabilities who want to climb.

'Binding Wounds, Pushing Boundaries: African Americans in Civil War Medicine'

A traveling exhibit examines the participation and contributions of African Americans as nurses, surgeons and hospital workers during the Civil War. "Binding Wounds, Pushing Boundaries: African Americans in Civil War Medicine," from the National Library of Medicine, will be on view at Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences, 509 N. 12th St., Feb. 4-March 16. The exhibit is open during library hours.

Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies Research Opportunity

If you are interested in stopping or reducing your drinking, VCU's Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies may have a study for you. Adults aged 21-70 who drink regularly/every day are invited to participate in a 16-week research study at VCU. Eligible participants will receive brief counseling as well as study medication (active drug or inactive placebo). All appointments and sessions are individual, provided at no cost and confidential.
