Learn about preserving and sharing insights gained. Develop a toolkit of analytical software in different paradigms. Share methods learned with like-minded VCU researchers. Bring a lunch. 'The Weaponization of Social Media'
Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.
Author Emerson Brooking will deliver a talk on "The Weaponization of Social Media." The event, in Ballroom B, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., is part of VCU's Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture's speaker series. Brooking is the author of "Like War" and a Washington, D.C.-based expert on the relationship between the internet and conflict. He will talk about how terrorists livestream their attacks, how "Twitter wars" produce real‑world casualties and how viral misinformation alters the result of battles and the fate of nations.

Opening Reception Set for 'An Exchange'
Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
An opening reception for the exhibit "An Exchange" will be held at The Anderson, 907 1/2 Franklin St. Collaborative works by digital fabrication students from the University of Texas at Austin and kinetic imaging students from VCU will be shown. Featured works include video projections, digitally fabricated objects, augmented reality, animations and videos.

Give Kids A Smile Day at VCU Dental Care
Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
VCU Dental Care’s Pediatric Practice, 520 N. 12th St., offers free services to children in need of dental care who do not have dental insurance on Give Kids a Smile Day. Pediatric dental specialists provide exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, extractions and minor restorations for children to age 18. Give Kids a Smile Day, created by the American Dental Association, is an annual focus of National Children’s Dental Health Month.

Virtual Immersive Gaming to Optimize Recovery in Low Back Pain
Are you currently experiencing low back pain, between the ages of 18-60 years old and interested in the possibility of nine weeks of nonsurgical experimental treatment? If you answered yes to all three you may qualify for our research. What? New, innovative and fun virtual reality games are designed to help people with chronic back pain move and feel better. Where? All appointments, testing and treatments are conducted at VCU. When? Participation in the study involves 24 one-hour appointments scheduled over a 57-week period. Who? Catholic Campus Ministry Alternative Spring Break
Catholic Campus Ministry is hosting its Alternative Spring Break March 3-8. Participants will travel to Mount Pleasant, S.C., to work with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those in need. The total cost of the trip is $280, and fundraising opportunities are available.

Spring Break Road Trip in Northern Patagonia
VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure will host a northern Patagonia road trip during spring break. Participants will travel down the Carretera Austral, the highway of national parks in Chilean Patagonia. Activities during the March 2-10 trip include camping, hiking, interacting with residents and service projects. Become a RAM CAMP Student Director
