The family of our VCU colleague, Suzanne (Suzie) Fairman, has invited the VCU community to celebrate her life at a memorial service in the VCU Academic Learning Commons, 1000 Floyd Ave. The service will be limited to Suzie’s family and VCU colleagues and friends. It is not public and not open to the news media.

ICA Facility Rentals Open House

International Clinical Trials Day
Monday, May 20, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
International Clinical Trials Day is recognized around the world on May 20 to memorialize the day that James Lind started what is often considered the first randomized clinical trial, aboard a British Royal Navy warship in 1747. VCU's C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research will host a Clinical Trials Day celebration on May 20, where staff will be available to answer questions about how to become involved with clinical research at VCU and participate in clinical trials at VCU Health. The session will be held at the VCU Medical Center Gateway Building, 1200 E. Marshall St.

Mindful Mondays in the Park: Loving Kindness

ICA Provocations Performance: RVA Rap Elite

For their return appearance at the ICA, RVA Rap Elite bring back the most authentic underground hip-hop experience in the city – a live event platform dedicated to lyricists, where old-school nostalgia merges with modern design and social media. The Science, Art and Philosophy of Floating

David Berv of The Float Zone and VCU Human Resources will co-host a session about floating, as a way to relax mind and body. Unplugged from external stimuli, floating can be used as a form of meditation, introspection, problem-solving and a way to boost creativity. 'Mindfulness at Work: Not Another Manic Monday'

VCU's Center for Corporate Education presents "Mindfulness at Work: Not Another Manic Monday." The workshop, part of the Lunch-and-Learn Series, will be in Room B3189, Snead Hall, School of Business, 301 W. Main St. It will be led by Elizabeth Bambacus, Ph.D., Student Engagement and Summer Studies Administrator, VCU Division of Strategic Enrollment Management. Nature Day Camp at the Rice Center
VCU Recreational Sports is hosting a nature camp for rising sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. The day camp will be held June 17-21 at the Inger and Walter Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences, 3800 John Tyler Memorial Highway, Charles City County. Campers will explore the the James River watershed and learn from the VCU Prothonotary Warbler research team and participants in the Virginia Oyster Shell Recycling Program. Training Sessions for Upgraded Event Management System
Training sessions have been scheduled for the upgraded Event Management System. Separate workshops will be held for those who use the desktop version to schedule space for others, and workshops on how to use the new Virtual EMS (now called WebApp) to request space. Training sessions for desktop schedulers will be held in the SGA Senate Chambers, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., June 5, 9:30-11:30 a.m.; July 10, 1-3 p.m. and Aug. 6, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Training sessions for desktop schedulers in the Jackson Ward Conference Room, Jonah L. Larrick Student Center, 900 Turpin St., will be June 6, 9-11 a.m.; July 11, 10 a.m.-noon and Aug. 7, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. EMS WebApp training sessions will be held in the SGA Senate Chambers June 10, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; July 16, 1-3 p.m. and Aug. 14, 10 a.m.-noon.
