Central Virginia SOCRA Chapter Meeting: 'Topics in Clinical Research Integrity'

Workshop on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins
Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
VCU's Center for the Study of Biological Complexity and Computer Science Department will host a workshop on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins. The seminar, in Room 2137, Grace E. Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave., will be led by Keith Dunker, Ph.D., professor of biochemistry, Indiana University. Dunker will explain why IDPs don't fold on their own, how common they are and their functions and roles in molecular evolution. VCU's Computer Science Department will host Dunker's IDP workshop at noon Feb. 22 in Room W105, College of Engineering West Hall, 601 W. Main St. Pizza will be provided at both workshops.

Faculty Participation in Library Services Survey Drives Donation to Feed More
VCU Libraries thanks the many faculty who completed the S+R Local Faculty Survey about library and research services conducted in the fall. VCU Libraries authorized a $2 donation from the VCU Foundation to Feed More for each survey completed. This translated into a $1,076 donation, which will provide approximately 4,300 meals to those in need in Central Virginia.

Effective Feb. 24, all VCU and VCU Health students and employees will be required to utilize their issued VCU/GRTC GO Pass in addition to their VCU, VCU Health or Virginia Premier ID card to ride GRTC under the pilot program. Participants Are Invited for Study Examining Sodium Intake, Vascular Function and Exercise
We are seeking young (18-35 years) adults to participate in a study examining the impact of sodium intake on blood vessel function at rest and during exercise. Subjects must be willing to maintain seven days of a low-salt diet and seven days of a high-salt diet. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator is Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
