Deborah McGuire, Ph.D., associate dean for research, scholarship and innovation at VCU School of Nursing, will lead a seminar on responding to research grant critiques. The session, presented by the C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research, is part of a series about grant writing for early career faculty researchers. Each seminar covers a topic related to writing competitive research grant applications and is taught by senior faculty researchers. Seating is limited. ICA Provocations Performance: Marcus Tenney

For his return appearance at the ICA, Richmond native Marcus Tenney will perform a solo set on trumpet and flugelhorn in response to Rashid Johnson’s “Monument” installation. A performance will also be held at 3 p.m. June 15 at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St.

World War II Community Celebration

The Lifelong Learning Institute in Chesterfield County, sponsored in part by VCU’s Virginia Center on Aging, will host a World War II community celebration. Meet World War II veterans, hear from historians, view artifacts and take the World War I and World War II Commemoration Commission’s mobile tour. Campus Connector To Discontinue Service July 1; GRTC Partnership Extended
VCU has signed a three-year paid agreement with GRTC to fund unlimited transportation access on Pulse Bus Rapid Transit, local and express routes for all VCU, VCU Health System and Virginia Premier students and employees effective Aug. 1. In an effort to eliminate redundant services and contribute to the cost of the new partnership, VCU will eliminate the Campus Connector route, effective July 1. To travel between campuses, passengers can use Pulse, Route 5.

Nominations are now open for VCU Alumni’s 2019 10 Under 10 awards, which recognize noteworthy and distinctive achievements made by alumni who have earned their first VCU degree between 2009 and 2018. Cabell Library RamRide Stop To Be Temporarily Relocated
From 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on June 11 and 12 and 4-6:30 p.m. on June 14, the Cabell Library RamRide stop will be temporarily relocated to Main and Laurel streets. Signage will be posted in the area to indicate the temporary stop location.

Grants Available for Fall 2019 Faculty Success Program
VCU's Office of the Provost is offering five grants to fund faculty participation in the Faculty Success Program. Pedestrian and ADA Accessible Detours on the Monroe Park Campus
Construction projects have begun at the intersections of Franklin and Shafer and Main and Linden streets that will change walking paths for pedestrians and those needing ADA accessible routes. LEAP Onto the James
VCU Recreational Sports is hosting a four-day overnight LEAP (Leadership Environment and Adventure Program) onto the James camp. The session, for rising ninth, 10th and 11th graders, will be at the Inger and Walter Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences, 3800 John Tyler Memorial Highway, Charles City County, from July 8-11 and July 22-25. The camp is for the adventurous who wish to push their leadership skills and develop their outdoor competence. Registration (at the following URL) ends July 2 and July 16, respectively.

Are You a College Student With Asthma?
This study is examining tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure among Latinx and African American/black college students between the ages of 18 and 20 with asthma. The study includes completing a packet of questionnaires, which should take about 60 minutes and can be completed online. You can receive a $25 gift card for participating.
