Dispelling Myths Series: "Unforgotten Nation - The Uighurs"

VCU's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs will host a discussion about the violence faced by Uighur Muslims in China. The Uighurs are a Turkic people who live primarily in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, where they are one of China's 55 officially recognized ethnic minorities. Uighurs primarily practice Islam. The discussion will be in Room 215, OMSA, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave.

'Swarms, Models and the Unreasonable Effectiveness of Mathematics'

Traffic Changes for April 13 Monument Avenue 10K Race
Saturday, Apr. 13, 2019 at 4 a.m.
Numerous traffic and parking changes on the Monroe Park campus will be in effect for the Monument Avenue 10K Race. Sections of Laurel Street will close the afternoon of April 11 and sections of Floyd, Franklin, Linden and Cherry streets will close the morning of April 12. All roads will reopen by 5 p.m. April 13. Motorists should use Cary, Main, Grace and Broad streets to reach campus on April 12 and Cary and Main streets to reach campus on April 13. Allow extra travel time. Parking, Transportation Affected Due to Monument Avenue 10K Race
Saturday, Apr. 13, 2019 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During the Monument Avenue 10K race, the EE Lot, West Broad Street Deck and Laurel Street Deck may be inaccessible from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. EE Lot, West Broad Street Deck, Laurel Street Deck and MCV Campus subscribers may utilize the Bowe Street Deck during these times. The Connector Express Cabell Library stop will be relocated to Main and Laurel Streets from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. GRTC will have temporary detours and bus stop closures, including the Pulse VCU East and Westbound stops.

CKI Capital Scavenger Hunt

Lebanese Students Association: Dabke Performance

Members of the Lebanese Student Association will perform Dabke, a cultural dance, during the VCU Intercultural Festival. The group will perform in the Commons area at 1 p.m. during the Student Organization Performance Competition. The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students with a valid VCU ID can receive $10 worth of food tickets for use at any food booth.

Hispanic/LatinX Research Study
Hispanic/LatinX individuals born outside of the mainland United States aged 18 years of age or higher are invited to participate in a research study. The program is investigating social and psychological factors that affect ethnic minorities’ health outcomes. Those who qualify will participate in a 20-minute study to complete several questionnaires, physical assessments (e.g., height and weight measurements) and tasks. Compensation is available.
