Race and Christianity in Early Virginia

Learn more about the historical intersection of race and Christianity in Virginia with Rebecca Goetz. She's an associate professor of history at New York University and the author of "The Baptism of Early Virginia: How Christianity Created Race." This is the second event in the year-long series "Virginia's Past, Present, and Future," presented by VCU's Humanities Research Center and Department of History in partnership with American Evolution: Virginia to America, 1619-2019. The talk will be in the third-floor Lecture Hall, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave.

Faculty Jazz Recital: Tony Martucci

VCU Jazz Drum professor Tony Martucci will present his free faculty jazz recital in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall, W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. He will perform the music of Victor Haskins' "Skein," and will include VCU Jazz alumnus, trumpeter and EWI-performer Haskins and VCU alumnus and Jazz faculty bassist Randall Pharr. VCU's da Vinci Center will host an informational meeting about the university's Pre-Accelerator (Pre-X) Program. The program identifies, supports and launches student high-growth and high-potential startups and founders. Workshop on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins

VCU's Computer Science Department will host a workshop on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins. The seminar, in Room W105, College of Engineering West Hall, 601 W. Main St., will be given by Keith Dunker, Ph.D., professor of biochemistry, Indiana University. Dunker will explain why IDPs don't fold on their own, how common they are and their functions and roles in molecular evolution. Pizza will be provided.

Charity Talent Night: Foundation for the International Medical Relief of Children

VCU's Foundation for the International Medical Relief of Children will host a charity talent night. United2Heal Fundraising Gala

United2Heal will hold its seventh annual Fundraising Gala, hosted at Four Points by Sheraton-Richmond. The event will include a live and silent auction with art pieces, event tickets, trip packages and more. United2Heal is a nonprofit humanitarian aid organization that collects surplus medical supplies for shipment to areas in need around the world. All proceeds from the event will go toward sustainment of the group's warehouse space and supplies. Early bird tickets are now on sale.

Beginning Feb. 24 through Feb. 27, street closures will be in effect on VCU’s MCV Campus for portions of North 10th street at the intersection of East Leigh Street.
