Integrative Life Sciences Research Showcase

VCU's Integrative Life Sciences Student Organization will present its research showcase highlighting work by students in the ILS Ph.D program. The event will be in Virginia Ballrooms A-D, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Oral presentations will be given from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m. A poster session will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch will be provided from noon-1 p.m.

Pop Culture vs. the 'Olympics of Suffering': Slavery and the Holocaust as One American Horror Story

VCU's Department of African American Studies and the Judaic Studies program will host a talk by Danielle Christmas, Ph.D. The event will be in the Richmond Salons I and II, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Christmas, an assistant professor of English and comparative literature at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will discuss the contemporary appeal of Nazis and slaveholders, as illustrated by the FX television series "American Horror Story."

'Before the Flood' Free Film Screening and Panel Discussion

VCU’s Biology Department and VCU Libraries will co-host a screening and panel discussion of “Before the Flood.” The screening will be in Room 303, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. The documentary follows actor Leonardo DiCaprio's journey to learn about climate change. Open World Leadership Center Presentation: Serbian Government and Culture

Representatives from the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will give a presentation about their government and culture. Real Life Film Series: 'Forgotten Genius'

Summer Study Abroad Program: Midwifery and Health in Guatemala
The VCU Institute for Women’s Health and Highland Support Project will host a week in Guatemala learning about traditional Maya medicine and exploring the country's methods of health care and healing. Latinx Sought for Research Study
Researchers in VCU’s Department of Psychology are interested in learning more about the psychological impact of current policies on individuals who immigrated to the United States at a young age. Participation includes a one-hour confidential interview. Compensation is available.
