VCU Rec Sports 10K Training

A new course offered by VCU Recreational Sports is designed to prepare runners for 10K races. The course begins Feb. 26. Personal trainers will use team runs and body weight movements to improve cardiovascular fitness, mobility, endurance and speed. Registration ends Feb. 22.

Wilderness First Responder Course

VCU's Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure Program will host a wilderness first responder course. The class will cover survival skills, with an emphasis on handling environmental and medical emergencies. Spring Break Road Trip in Northern Patagonia

VCU Recreational Sports Outdoor Adventure will host a northern Patagonia road trip during spring break. Participants will travel down the Carretera Austral, the highway of national parks in Chilean Patagonia. Activities during the March 2-10 trip include camping, hiking, interacting with residents and service projects. The trip begins and ends at Puerto Montt, Chile; participants are responsible for individual transportation. The cost is $595 for students, $775 for faculty/staff members and $900 for nonmembers. Faculty Participation in Library Services Survey Drives Donation to Feed More

VCU Libraries thanks the many faculty who completed the S+R Local Faculty Survey about library and research services conducted in the fall. VCU Libraries authorized a $2 donation from the VCU Foundation to Feed More for each survey completed. This translated into a $1,076 donation, which will provide approximately 4,300 meals to those in need in Central Virginia.

Barbara A. Roby Scholarship for Students With Disabilities

The Barbara A. Roby Scholarship is offered through the Office of Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunity. A scholarship of up to $2,000 is awarded to a VCU undergraduate with a disability registered with Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunity or Division for Academic Success. Applicants must demonstrate leadership or service to the community, have a GPA of 2.5 or above, be enrolled in a degree-seeking program and demonstrate financial need.

Limited Submission Opportunity - V Foundation 2019 V Scholar Grant

Massey Cancer Center is accepting internal pre-applications for the V Foundation 2019 V Scholar Award. This award supports young tenure-track faculty early in their cancer research career by funding a range of projects from laboratory-based research through bench-to-bedside research. This call for applications is specifically for adult cancer research. Pre-applications are due Feb. 25. Massey Cancer Center will review pre-applications and choose a nominee to submit a full proposal to the V Foundation.
