Information Sessions: Applying for Funded Summer Undergraduate Research Programs at VCU

The VCU Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program will host an informational session for undergraduate students of all majors who are interested in applying for summer research programs at VCU. Vietnamese Student Association's First Spring Chao House
Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
VCU's Vietnamese Student Association will host its first Spring Chao House of the semester. The event will be in Room 1004A, West Grace Street Student Housing – South, 835 W. Seminar: Molecular Communication and Cellular Signaling
Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 from noon to 1 p.m.
Preetam Ghosh, Ph.D., VCU College of Engineering, will present a seminar about molecular communication. The talk, hosted by VCU’s Department of Computer Science, will be given in Room 105, College of Engineering West Hall/Virginia Microelectronics Center, 601 W. Main St. The use of information theory in the study of biological systems will be discussed.

Parliamentary Procedure Workshop
Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
VCU's ASPiRE and the National Association of Parliamentarians will host a parliamentary procedure workshop in Room 1004 F and G, West Grace South Residence Hall, 835 W. Grace Street. The workshop will focus on the basic principles of Robert's Rules of Order and processing motions. The lessons are designed to teach participants how to conduct more efficient meetings and to promote group civility. An experienced parliamentarian will be available for questions.

Pop Culture vs. the 'Olympics of Suffering': Slavery and the Holocaust as One American Horror Story

VCU's Department of African American Studies and the Judaic Studies program will host a talk by Danielle Christmas, Ph.D. The event will be in the Richmond Salons I and II, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Christmas, an assistant professor of English and comparative literature at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will discuss the contemporary appeal of Nazis and slaveholders, as illustrated by the FX television series "American Horror Story."

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Latinx Sought for Research Study
Researchers in VCU’s Department of Psychology are interested in learning more about the psychological impact of current policies on individuals who immigrated to the United States at a young age. Participation includes a one-hour confidential interview. Compensation is available.
