'Why Don't They Just Leave? Ending Stigma Around Intimate Partner Violence'

The Peer Health Educators of VCU's Wellness Resource Center will present "Why Don't They Just Leave? Ending Stigma Around Intimate Partner Violence." The interactive session, to be held in Commonwealth Ballroom A, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., will focus on the scope of intimate partner violence, recognizing and minimizing stigma, learning how to intervene and increasing awareness of resources for survivors.

Objects and Methods Lecture: Sara Kaaman

Graphic designer, editor and teacher Sara Kaaman will speak as part of the Objects and Methods Lecture Series. The talk, to be held at the Grace Street Theater, 934 W. 'The Internal Enemy: Slavery and War in Virginia, 1772-1832'
6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Alan Taylor will speak in the third-floor lecture hall, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. Taylor is Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Chair in the University of Virginia’s Corcoran Department of History and author of numerous books about the colonial period, the American Revolution and the Early Republic. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1996 and 2014. This is the third event in the year-long series "Virginia's Past, Present, and Future," presented by VCU's Humanities Research Center and Department of History in partnership with American Evolution: Virginia to America, 1619-2019.

Diversity and Inclusion Dialogue on Tour: Problematic Pop Culture

The Diversity Ambassadors from VCU's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs will host a conversation about pop culture. The discussion will focus on how pop culture can be problematic and oppressive if folks are not careful about what is consumed and shared. Can We Talk? A Colorectal Cancer Awareness Celebration

VCU Massey Cancer Center and Hitting Cancer Below the Belt will host an event aimed at raising awareness of colorectal cancer and educating the public about screening measures and reducing the risk of cancer. The event will be held in the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building, 1217 E. Marshall St. Activities will include a giant interactive inflatable colon, a live DJ and dance performances, Q&A tables with doctors and other medical experts, nutrition demonstrations, stress reduction classes and group exercise demonstrations.

VCU Technology Services and VCU Libraries present the 2019 Tech Fair. Research Poster Design Session
