VCU's Emerging Leaders Program will sponsor "Being a Woman in the City." The interactive event will be held at Grace and Broad Residence Center 1, 1000 W. Grace St., and will feature a speaker from VCU's Wellness Resource Center, a self-defense demonstration and paint-and-talk session. Pizza and light refreshments will be provided. VCU's Intercultural Festival Planning Board presents keynote speaker Kobi Skolnick, who will discuss social change, peace-building, cultural empathy and conflict resolution. Mindfulness in the Park - Allowing Tension to Float Away

Provocations Performance: BareSOUL Yoga

BareSOUL, a yoga and meditation studio, will perform at the ICA response to Rashid Johnson’s “Monument” installation. The performance will invite the audience to witness the present moment through breath work, flowing movement and the healing effects of vibrational sound. Mindfulness Essentials

Presented in partnership with the Chrysalis Institute, the VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education presents a course to cover mindfulness essentials. The session will be held at 213 Roseneath Road. Learn to create a pause between what is happening and how to respond. Mindfulness meditation helps develop a clear mind, compassionate heart and greater sense of well being.
