Mindfulness in the Park: Introducing Ourselves to the Present
12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Take a break with VCU's Wellness Resource Center and practice mindfulness outdoors. Bring a blanket or yoga mat to the fountain in Monroe Park. One of the Well's staff members will serve as a guide during a 20-minute session to focus on the present. The rain location is The Well, 815 S. Cathedral Place.

Catholic Campus Ministry: Baccalaureate Mass
Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 11 a.m.
All graduating seniors are invited to be a part of the Catholic Campus Ministry Baccalaureate Mass Celebration at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 823 Cathedral Place. Participating seniors will be able to wear their gowns for the Mass and will receive a blessing. All students and families are welcome to attend. A reception will follow. RSVP to mrpugsley@vcu.edu.

ICA Cinema Series: 'Daughters of the Dust'
Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 6 p.m.
Set in 1902, the members of a multigenerational family in the Gullah community on the Sea Islands off South Carolina (former West African slaves who adopted many of their ancestors’ Yoruba traditions) struggle to maintain their cultural heritage while contemplating migration to the mainland. The screening of the 1991 film will be at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. Admission is free, but tickets are required. RSVP at the following URL.

Fundamentals of Computing Specialization
VCU students in all majors can add a major boost to their résumés with the Fundamentals of Computing specialization offered by the College of Engineering's Computer Science Department. Students complete four courses to earn the specialization. The first course, Computers and Programming, will be offered this summer and is a prerequisite for the remaining three. All four courses will be offered in the fall. Sign up through E-services. Search for CMSC 191.

Food for Fines Drive Ends May 12
VCU Libraries' Food for Fines food drive ends May 12. Those who owe fines or fees for library materials may donate a food item at the libraries' information desks. For each food item donated, VCU Libraries will waive $5 in fines up to a $30 maximum. To qualify, materials must be returned and fees for damaged and lost items will not be waived.
