ICA Provocations Performance: RVA Rap Elite
Friday, May 24, 2019 at 4 p.m.
For their return appearance at the ICA, RVA Rap Elite bring back the most authentic underground hip-hop experience in the city – a live event platform dedicated to lyricists, where old-school nostalgia merges with modern design and social media. A performance will also be given at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. at 3 p.m. May 25.

Never Forget Memorial Run
Monday, May 27, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
VCU Police in partnership with VFW Post 6364 host the Never Forget Memorial Run, rain or shine. This is a 1.4 mile silent run through VCU to the Virginia War Memorial. Runners are asked to wear white T-shirts for a uniform appearance. This event is free; all runners are welcome. Sign-in begins at 10:30 a.m. in the west parking lot, Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St. The opening ceremony will be at 11 a.m. and the run begins at noon. Participants may park for free in the Bowe Street parking deck. Unaccompanied minors must have a parental consent form, which is on the event's Facebook page.

The Science, Art and Philosophy of Floating
Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from noon to 1 p.m.
David Berv of The Float Zone and VCU Human Resources will co-host a session about floating, as a way to relax mind and body. Unplugged from external stimuli, floating can be used as a form of meditation, introspection, problem-solving and a way to boost creativity. ALT Lab Online Learning Course Series

College of Engineering: Automation and Controls

In partnership with the VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education, the College of Engineering will offer Automation and Controls July 22-26. This introductory course in Industrial Automation is intended for engineers, technicians and supervisory personnel who work in the area of industrial automation, but do not have in-depth knowledge of programmable logic controllers. Reminder About Leave for University and Academic Professionals
Leave carryover and payout maximums go into effect in January 2020 for university and academic professionals. Leave balances exceeding the maximum will be forfeited starting Jan. 9. The maximum leave payout will be applied to employees separating from the university starting Jan. 10. Review your leave balance in VCU eServices and work with your manager to use your leave. Managers are encouraged to be as flexible as possible with employee leave requests.
