ICA Social Session: Built Environment
Wednesday, Jun. 26, 2019 at 6 p.m.
Each Social Session, part of the ICA's "Summer Sessions" exhibition, brings together Session partners, community members and the public around music, wine and common interests. Make connections and experience the Summer Sessions space at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. The event will include a live DJ, hands-on activities, cash bar and brief remarks at 6:30 pm.

ICA Provocations Performance: Shy Lennox
Friday, Jun. 28, 2019 at 4 p.m.
Shy Lennox is a young artist making a name for himself in the new world of Alternative R&B. Fifty years after the Stonewall Riots, he will present a performance in response to Rashid Johnson’s “Monument” installation at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. He will also offer a performance at 3 p.m. June 29.

In partnership with the VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education, the College of Engineering will offer Automation and Controls July 22-26. This introductory course in Industrial Automation is intended for engineers, technicians and supervisory personnel who work in the area of industrial automation, but do not have in-depth knowledge of programmable logic controllers. Introduction to Little Data: Statistical Design and Analysis of Experiments

In partnership with the VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education, the College of Engineering will offer "Introduction to Little Data: Statistical Design and Analysis of Experiments" for professional development. This two-day course, in Room 106, VCU College of Engineering West Hall, 601 W. Main St., serves as an introduction to a statistical approach to the design and analysis of experiments in science, engineering and data-driven decision making. It is designed for entry-level scientists, engineers and business managers. Early-bird pricing is available.

Essentials of Self-Compassion

Campus Connector To Discontinue Service July 1; GRTC Partnership Extended
VCU has signed a three-year paid agreement with GRTC to fund unlimited transportation access on Pulse Bus Rapid Transit, local and express routes for all VCU, VCU Health System and Virginia Premier students and employees effective Aug. 1. In an effort to eliminate redundant services and contribute to the cost of the new partnership, VCU will eliminate the Campus Connector route, effective July 1. To travel between campuses, passengers can use Pulse, Route 5.

VCU Cashier's Office To Close Early for Fiscal Year End
The VCU Cashier's Office at Grace Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave., will close at noon on June 28, due to fiscal year end closing. All departmental deposits, student payments and other items to be processed for the 2019 fiscal year should be delivered to the office no later than 11:30 a.m. on June 28.

LEAP Onto the James
VCU Recreational Sports is hosting a four-day overnight LEAP (Leadership Environment and Adventure Program) onto the James camp. The session, for rising ninth, 10th and 11th graders, will be at the Inger and Walter Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences, 3800 John Tyler Memorial Highway, Charles City County, from July 8-11 and July 22-25. The camp is for the adventurous who wish to push their leadership skills and develop their outdoor competence. Registration (at the following URL) ends July 2 and July 16, respectively.

Participants Are Invited For Study Examining PTSD and Exercise
This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 who have post-traumatic stress disorder or symptoms of PTSD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of PTSD symptoms on blood vessel function at rest and during exercise. Participants will be compensated. This study will be conducted at the 500 Academic Centre, 1020 W. Grace St. The principal investigator is Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Dept of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
