VCU to Test All Alert Emergency Communications
VCU will conduct a full test of its emergency communications and alerting systems, including sirens on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses and at VCU Police headquarters, at noon on Sept. 4. The full test will include the sirens along with text messages, Alertus boxes, mass email, digital signs, desktop alerts, LiveSafe, social media and VCU website information — all part of a multichannel system for communicating emergency information to VCU students, faculty, staff, visitors and the community. VCU Police will send out text messages to VCU Alert subscribers prior to, and during testing, and once testing has concluded.

ICA To Host Arts Connection Social Hour
6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A mixer-style event featuring representatives of local galleries and arts organizations will be held at the ICA. Staff from the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St.; The Anderson; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia and others will be available. Afterward, Vann Graves, executive director of the VCU Brandcenter, and Dominic Asmall Willsdon, executive director of the ICA, will lead a conversation about creativity.

United2Heal To Hold General Body Meeting

First Fridays at ICA To Feature Premiere of 'When I Get Home'

A short film by musician Solange Knowles will have its big-screen Virginia premiere. The film, inspired by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in Knowles' hometown of Houston, will be presented at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. The screening will be followed by a Style & Spirits Black, White & Shine-themed afterparty with DJ Nobe. Also, grab some ICA swag and get creative at the Studio Two Three To-Go Art Truck. Interest Meeting for Personalized Exploration for College Success

Experiencing computer issues? There’s no need to go off campus for repairs. FixIT, VCU’s on-campus computer repair resource, is located at 930 W. Grace St. inside RamTech. FixIT will assess and repair Apple and Dell computers, no matter where purchased. FixIT is authorized for in-warranty repairs and also supports out-of-warranty repairs.
