SOCRA To Hold Informational Session for Certification Exam
11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
VCU and the Central Virginia Chapter of the Society of Clinical Research Associates will host the SOCRA Certified Clinical Research Professional certification exam on Oct. 18. The exam application and supporting documents must be submitted to SOCRA no later than Sept. 6. The informational session will be held in Rooms 11-101/102, James W. and Frances G. McGlothlin Medical Education Center, 1201 E. Marshall St.

Cheer Students at the Ram Spirit Walk

In a Welcome Week tradition, the freshman class and The Peppas spirit band will march from Convocation to a block party on Floyd Avenue. Join the VCU Office of Alumni Relations with spirit gear and banners to welcome the Class of 2023 and incoming transfer students. Alumni, faculty, staff and current students are encouraged to line Harrison Street to cheer students as they parade from the Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St.

Free Store To Hold Week-Long Grand Opening
Monday, Aug. 19, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All students, faculty and staff are invited to an open house to celebrate the grand opening of VCU's Free Store. The open house will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 19-23. The Free Store, 201 N. Belvidere St., is an on-campus resource where VCU students, faculty and staff with a valid VCU ID can take new and used goods for free. Donations will be accepted. Starting the week of Aug. 26 the Free Store will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesdays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Fridays.

Black Awakening Choir To Hold Open Rehearsals

The Black Awakening Choir at VCU will hold an open rehearsal for interested students. No auditions are required. Informational Sessions Set for Course Content Grants from Virtual Library of Va.

VCU Libraries will host viewings of informational webinars about the VIVA Course Redesign Grants. These $1,000 to $30,000 grants give faculty the resources and time they need to redesign courses by swapping out textbooks and other expensive course materials for open, no cost, or library options. This session will provide a general introduction to the grants, the application process and a Q&A, with time for local discussion. The session will be held at James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., and Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences, 509 N. 12th St.

Virtual Immersive Gaming to Optimize Recovery in Low Back Pain
Are you currently experiencing low back pain, between the ages of 18-60 years old and interested in the possibility of nine weeks of nonsurgical experimental treatment? If you answered yes to all three you may qualify for our research. What? New, innovative and fun virtual reality games are designed to help people with chronic back pain move and feel better. Where? All appointments, testing and treatments are conducted at VCU. When? Participation in the study involves 24 one-hour appointments scheduled over a 57-week period. Who?
