Helping STEM Students Learn Via Metacognition

The Science Hub presents "Understanding and Applying Metacognition in Your STEM Classroom." The session will be held in Room 2122, Oliver Hall – School of Education, 1015 W. Main St. This interactive session will provide tangible takeaways for using the science of learning and metacognition - awareness and understanding of one's own thought processes - to help students approach learning with self-awareness and enthusiasm. The Science Hub is a STEM community building group supported by VCU's Division of Inclusive Excellence and the Campus Learning Center.

Evaluation of Cryo-EM Microscopes Planned

Martin Safo, Ph.D., and Montserrat Samso, Ph.D., will host Thermo Fisher Scientific for an informational seminar, Cryo-EM. This seminar will be held in Room 5-101, James W. and Frances G. Student Conduct and Academic Integrity To Hold Open Houses
Student Conduct and Academic Integrity (SCAI) will host an Open House each Friday during Weeks of Welcome. The events will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. through Sept. 27th at SCAI, second floor, 809 W. New River Gorge Climbing Weekend Planned
Recreational Sports' Outdoor Adventure Program will host a trip to one of the most famous climbing areas in North America, the New River Gorge region. Participants will be taught equipment usage and basic climbing and belaying techniques in a trusting environment. This rock climbing and camping adventure is designed for climbers of all abilities. VRS Hybrid Contribution Deadline is Sept. 16
Sept. 16 is the election deadline for voluntary contributions to become effective in October for Virginia Retirement System Hybrid Plan participants. Voluntary contributions can be changed once per calendar quarter. Participants can voluntarily contribute up to 4 percent of their creditable salary and receive up to a 2.5 percent employer match.
