Interest Meeting for Personalized Exploration for College Success

PECS will host an interest meeting in Room 1303, Multipurpose Room, The Honors College, 701 W. Grace St. PECS guides underprivileged high school students through the college application process via one-on-one mentoring on college exploration, essay writing and more. Musicircus Set for Singleton Center

Simultaneous performances from VCU Music, Dance, Theater, Art Education and professional musicians will overlap for VCU's third annual Musicircus. Commemoration of Those Lost on 9/11 and in the War on Terror
Wednesday, Sep. 11, 2019 from 8:10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
VCU's Student Veterans Association and Military Student Services will host a ceremony to commemorate those who died in the attack by terrorists on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony will begin with a wreath laying at the flagpoles at Grace E. Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave. Members of the host groups, representatives of Veterans of Foreign Wars #6364 and VCU students who wish to participate will run with loaded backpacks in the Ram Courtyard behind the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave., to honor first responders who climbed the stairs at the Twin Towers.

John B. Fenn Lecture Announced

Martin F. Jarrold, Ph.D., a professor of analytical chemistry at Indiana University, will deliver the VCU Department's John B. Fenn Lecture. The talk will be given at the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. Fenn, a former research professor of analytical chemistry at VCU, was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2002.

'Breathe, River' Sound Installation at Byrd Park Pump House
Saturday, Sep. 14, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
VCUarts Department of Kinetic Imaging presents "Breathe, River." The immersive sound installation by Sara Bouchard (MFA 2019) will be in Richmond's historic Byrd Park Pump House, 1708 Pump House Drive. The work is informed by conversations with aquatic ecologist Paul Bukaveckas, Ph.D., of VCU's Rice Rivers Center and features a musical composition based on water quality data from the James River. The exhibit will also be available at the same hours on Sept. 15.

Volunteers Sought for VCU Cancer Patient Advocate Group
Take the Fight at VCU is a chapter of a nonprofit organization which supports patients with cancer as well as the medical staff. The group seeks to facilitate the exchange of medical information and increase the patient’s ability to follow their treatment plan. Volunteers take leading roles in community outreach, fundraising and campus engagement. Students from all majors are welcome.

Are You a College Student With Asthma?
This study is examining tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure among Latinx and black college students between the ages of 18 and 20 with asthma. The study includes completing a packet of questionnaires, which should take about 60 minutes and can be completed online. You can receive a $25 gift card for participating.
