Truman Scholarship Informational Session Planned

The National Scholarship Office will host an informational session about the Truman Scholarship. The award is geared toward juniors planning to pursue careers in public service. Attend the session online or in Room 1210, The Honors College, 701 W. Grace St. The scholarship provides leadership development, an internship opportunity in Washington, D.C., and up to $30,000 for graduate studies.

Goldwater Scholarship Informational Session Set

The Well To Host Group Mindfulness Meditation Session

Artist Lecture at ICA by Corin Hewitt

Corin Hewitt, a Richmond-based artist and associate professor of sculpture and extended media at VCU, will discuss his solo exhibit, "Shadows Are to Shade." The artist will be at the Institute for Contemporary Art, 601 W. Broad St. The exhibition will be on view at the ICA and also for limited hours at the artist's home and studio in the Fan District until Sept. 1.

Active Minds: Learn About Mental Health Advocacy at VCU

Active Minds at VCU will hold its first general body meeting in Virginia Rooms C and D, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. The goal of the group, a chapter of a national nonprofit organization, is to raise mental health awareness among college students and to fight the stigma around mental illness on a university and national level.

Paloma McGregor/Urban Bush Women Choreographic Fellow Showing

VCUarts Dance will host an in-process showing of work by guest artist Paloma McGregor in a research residency as part of the Urban Bush Women Choreographic Fellowship Program. The free event will be held at The Anderson, 907 ½ W. Franklin St. McGregor is a Caribbean-born, New York-based choreographer whose work centers black voices through collaborative, process-based art-making and organizing. The work will also be shown at the same site at 7 p.m. Oct. 4.

Pace Community Café To Offer $1 Thursday Lunches

Each Thursday this semester, The Pace Center will serve lunch for $1 for all members of the VCU community. The meal, cooked by VCU students from their favorite family recipes, will be be served from noon to 1 p.m. The Pace Center, 700 W. VCU's School of Education, in collaboration with FIRST Chesapeake, is seeking students interested in working with middle school students in Richmond City Public Schools in an informal after-school setting. The undertaking would require 12 hours per week for 12 to 14 weeks. The meeting will be in Room 3085, Oliver Hall – School of Education, 1015 W. Main St. Come to this pizza event to learn about the opportunity to work with students and robotics. No prior experience is needed.

Volunteers Sought for VCU Honor Council
VCU Student Conduct and Academic Integrity seeks faculty, university and academic professionals and students to volunteer for the Honor Council. Volunteers will be trained and authorized to determine whether a student has violated the VCU Honor System and to recommend sanctions when a violation has been committed. New Semester, Same Tech Troubles? RamTech Can FixIT
Experiencing computer issues? There’s no need to go off campus for repairs. FixIT, VCU’s on-campus computer repair resource, is located at 930 W. Grace St. inside RamTech. FixIT will assess and repair Apple and Dell computers, no matter where purchased. FixIT is authorized for in-warranty repairs and also supports out-of-warranty repairs. FixIT is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday.

Students Can Reduce the Cost of Existing Adobe Licenses
Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, InDesign, Acrobat, etc.) is available to VCU students at a discounted price of $60 a year or $30 for six months. Students who are paying $240 or $360 yearly may cancel their subscription without incurring a penalty fee.
